I really love to costumize my home screen so i would have to say that My 5 favorite apps are:
1. FUFINDER SEARCH WIDGETS - lets you choose from many cool and beatiful designed google search bars instead of the google's default one.
2. BEATIFUL WIDGETS- they have really nice weather widgets
3. MINIMALISTIC TEXT- lets you costumize many widgets
4. WHATSAPP- because you have to interact with others
5. WAZE- cool GPS app

Zooper widget - total customization - any clock, any weather, any battery, any.... it goes on and on.
Smooth Calendar - Nice (date changing) calendar icon. Let's you display up to 5 up coming events.
Wifi widget - info and control
Evernote - quickly add a memo
Beweather Pro - all the weather needs (from blackberry days) the greatest.

Waze: for directions.
Zooper: infinite possibilities.

*Quickest Alarm - Sets alarm from the widget. No need to launch an app.
SolCalendar - Clean monthly calendar view
Tomorrow's Gas Prices - After 4pm, I know whether the gas price will rise or fall tomorrow.
TWN(The weather network) - Only because I think TWN's weather forecast is more accurate than others.

Sidebar Lite. (couldn't live without). I just use it for toggles, like Wifi, brightness and flashlight. so great.
AppDialer (couldn't live without)
Blue Mail email widget (only because it belongs to Blue Mail, long live)
Event Flow (great looking calendar widget. lovely and awesome)
"Weather and Clock widget". Perfect.

Cool Reader. I have a lot of books downloaded and this allows me to read them all regardless of format.
