This is what I hate about being a college student on a family plan. I can't get the phone being i'm on my dad's plan... and he'll have to get it probably around 5:30 that day... if they're still in stock. crap.

There is a way he can make you an authorized user on the plan, giving you full access to the account and able to upgrade

Thats not totally true. Your dad could make you an "authorized user" on the account and you could go into VZW or bestbuy and pick up a new phone all by yourself.

I don't want to make any apt until i here "official word". VZ store near me told me, they haven't here any word (punk). LOL
Yep, just called both the local Verizon and Best Buy. Neither have any information as far as a release date, the Verizon store doesn't even have any promotional materials in house so I'm guessing they don't have the phones either. If this thing drops Thursday and neither of my locals have it what are my options?

I did just that. Thank you for the idea, it was brilliant. It was one of those, "why didn't I think of that" ideas. Again, thank you. I now have an appointment for 9am Thursday.
Thats what I was figuring, just called 2 more stores farther north in Madison and both had no information so rather than get frustrated it looks like I'll simply be up late Wednesday night to order as soon as it hits.

I call this either stupid or a flat out LIE (not you... VZW) Most stores have had the promotional materials for almost a MONTH. Even 3rd party retailers near me have standing cardboard displays for this phone. So yeah, either they were an idiot (likely) or telling you that so you would ask about coming in to buy an iPhone (more likely).
Just for the record, I retain a healthy level of skepticism about Thursday. Either way, the above applies.
Called my BB again tonight. This morning they said they didnt know. Tonight they said its the 17th based on what they were communicated just this afternoon from their manager.
They were skeptical because of how much its been pushed back.

Why Rush Out To Buy The Thunderbolt?
There are better, faster, more powerful handsets right around the corner so why rush out to buy the HTC Thunderbolt with so many delays and reported issues. The fact that the removed Skype for the launch should tell you that all is not well with the HTC Thunderbolt. Checkout the Infuse that is launching soon! IMHO that is a better handset than is the Thunderbolt!
Don't be foolish! Let others be the first and learn from their mistakes! Besides, just like the Atrix, the price should drop rapidly as other handsets are launched at Verizon!

I asked telesales this question and they told me 8 a.m. eastern for online sales as well as phone sales. Who knows if thats right though.
