Lock screen behavior with fingerprint security

I'm a bit confused on why my screen is locking so frequently. I have my phone secured with fingerprint and I have my lock screen setting set to lock automatically after 30 minutes. However my phone is locking far more quickly than waiting 30 minutes. Any ideas?
When I used to secure my phone with a PIN code, I didn't have this same behavior and it didn't lock until the 30 minute mark as I expected.
Thanks for any help clarifying if this is expected behavior with fingerprint security, it's a bug, or if some other setting or factor is involved that I should look at.

Do you have "Lock when using lock button" checked? If so and you hit that to turn the screen off it could be locking it.

I don't have the "lock instantly with power key" option checked, which I think is same as what you refer to on my phone. But good idea to check, so thanks.

I also have on body detection turned on, so now I'm wondering if when I set my phone down (no movement) if the on body detection feature is locking my phone and ignoring the screen lock timeout setting of 30 minutes? I'm going to test turning off the on body detection and see what happens.
