Locking in unlimited data by pre-order may not be necessary?

I asked that question before I decided to upgrade to S3.I also was told that yeah I would still be locked into the unlimited data, which email confirmed.
Also what??? They already raised that 30 upgrade fee to 35?

I think the reason they are upping the fee is cause people did not complain about it like they did with the. Proposed $2 fee to pay your bill online or via the phone. So now they think they can milk us for more. Don't be surprised if they raise it to $40or $45 if people still don't complain over the upgrade fee increase.

I?m sitting here with unlimited data, a GSIII on order and a wife that is complaining that she still has a feature phone while I?m getting my third smartphone?

I?m tempted to just add the $30 2 GB data plan onto her line so she can start using my old smartphone. But that is a $30 waste of money, as she wouldn?t really use the data. She just wants some of the capabilities of the smartphones.

Damn you VZW. Just let me add a smartphone as a regular phone and not have to pay out the end for data that will never be used!

Bets on whether Verizon forces us off our unlimited when we activate our phones on the 9th?

I am giving my wife my Maxx and taking the S3 (just put in my order for 32GB blue) and selling her 64gb iPhone 4s. I'll sock the money away and use it for our next phone.

Yeah basically for most of us this means that if we buy a subsidized phone within the next two weeks, it will likely be our last.

Im already planning setting aside cash for the next upgrade after the S3. Full retail, ouchies.

Verizon has already stated if we pre-ordered with unlimited we keep our unlimited.

I just called Verizon and spoke just with a CS Rep. She checked with a supervisor and said that if you have unlimited data and pre-ordered you will be able to keep the unlimited data even if the phone is received and activated after the 28th. Hopefully more than one of us can call and all get the same answer from them.:D

Same here. The rep checked with his supervisor and told me the same thing. I am still not confident they will allow us to keep it considering it is taking effect 6/28 and that just happens to coincide with the rumored ship date for the S3.

I have a feeling they may try to get us on the technicality of activation date vs pre-ordered date. I hope this doesn't happen but in light of all the pre-orders with unlimited data email confirmations, wouldn't surprise me if there's a class action brewing if all the pre-orders are "forced" off the unlimited.

I think youd be able to do that after the 28th. It reads as if the share everything plan is optional. The only thing that isnt an option is keeping unlimited data if you buy a subsidized upgrade after the 28th.

yeah, it looks like they're not completely screwing everyone on the plan if one person goes to upgrade by still offering the per line tiers.

Share Everything Plan: Unlimited Talk & Text with Shared Data.

I have an unlimited data plan on my account. Do I need to change it?
You're not required to move to Share Everything but if you do, unlimited data will not be retained on your line. As a Verizon Wireless customer you have choices when you upgrade at discounted pricing. You can choose from a standalone data package starting at $30 for 2GB or a Share Everything Plan. If keeping unlimited is important to you, you can choose to upgrade and pay full retail price for the phone.

Verizon has already stated if we pre-ordered with unlimited we keep our unlimited.

Is there anything official stating this? I was told by a rep when I called after pre-ordering that we would and there's been some online "confirmation" from various sites but nothing definitive to hang our hats on other than perhaps the email confirmations.

I'm loving these new plans, $30 cheaper a month is great! And you get free hotspot and unlimited minutes and texting! Goodbye unlimited, both of my lines never went over 2gb anyway :p

Considering that when I pre-ordered it had me choose my plan and features along with the ability to keep my 30 dollar unlimited data. The preorder conditions should stand.

Ive read various posts where people called to confirm this and it had been confirmed. Personally I dont beleive they would reverse this for people that pre-ordered.

Is it possible..sure, but I dont think its likely. Id call if your very worried about it.

Yep, no official statement yet. And depending on how they structure the contracts, they still could force us onto tiered data.

I just spoke with Verizon customer service. She very firmly assured me I will be keeping my unlimited data since I pre-ordered the GS3 and it is before the 28th.

and everyone, including me, who has called has been told that. I don't think anyone who pre-ordered with unlimited data has anything to worry about.

I am sure hoping/counting on being able to keep the unlimited plan on my preorder. I ordered yesterday and when I saw the article posted today with the date of June 28th I got nervous. I started looking around for posts on the topic. Had it been that we were gonna have to swap to new plan I was going to cancel my order and go with the Maxx.

It makes perfect sense from a business standpoint. Use the S3's popularity to get people to accept the new plans. Clear out the Razr line of phones for people who want to hang onto their unlimited before introducing the Razr HD. They are going to get negative press either way so do it all in one shot.

I've now heard confirmations for both keeping and not keeping the unlimited clauses. One thing that IS certain is that my invoice/bill lists my unlimited plan in my purchase price for the pre-order. If after i activate the phone, and this differs from what I agreed on, that's grounds for termination -- or at least the 30 day return policy will apply.

Right?
