Login/Logout Issues

Constantly being prompt to sign in...
Does anyone else constantly being prompt to sign in almost every time when visiting AC? This happen to me quite often after leaving the forum. I never logged out of my account, and I make sure to always put a check inside the checkbox... if for any reason I have to sign into my account. Smh! :-/

Yeah. Couple of times a day usually. On IE9.

I hope the forum Administrator(s) have noticed this problem as well. And are working to correct this issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys.
There's a project underway to provide seamless authentication between the blog and the forums. There's an even larger project that will enable the community to use their existing accounts across all Mobile Nation's sites. If you're a member of one or more sister sites you'll enjoy the benefit of not having to create/remember multiple usernames.
There may be a few technical hiccups along the way, but the main one you're experiencing now should be resolved in the coming days.
In the meantime, if you can use the blog page (vs. the forums page) to login it should resolve the issue you described above: http://www.androidcentral.com/user?destination=/
When doing so, you will be logging into both the blog and the forums and should clear up the problem you've described above.
It might also help if you clear your cookies and cache before you do so.
As always, please don't hesitate to speak up and raise any issues you run into.

There's a project underway to provide seamless authentication between the blog and the forums. There's an even larger project that will enable the community to use their existing accounts across all Mobile Nation's sites. Cory I hate to bring this back up but I still have the sign out issues here on Chromium. I'm not sure but I could swear that a few times I've been signed out after having just visited, then come back later and I'm signed in again.
Any news or is it still a work in progress for this fix?

My 2 cents. I have been seeing this for a while using stock IE 7(company policy). For me it only happens if I have been on any other site external to the company network BEFORE coming to androidcentral. When I land on the home page, I am logged in. Goto forums and I see 'please join our community'. Fix is to close and restart IE and go directly to androidcentral.com, click on forums and all is well. I assumed someone was working on it after seeing the 'clear out all cookies' instructions not long ago.
I would not even have come looking for this thread except I too was 'banned for life' today.

I promise this will get better. There is a project underway (that's beyond the scope of what I do) to make the forums/blog login process seamless and should alleviate all the reauth issues you've been bringing up.

Something wrong with forums
When I'm reading a thread- it says I can't see links unless I'm logged in. I click on "login" and get sent to a page with my profile/lets me change my password/other settings as if I'm already logged in. Then I click back on "forums" up on the top navigation bar and I apparently get logged out automatically- says I'm not logged in. I have to monkey around with these buttons for 10 mins or so until it seems to leave me logged in.

Glad I wasn't the only who noticed that. I just signed up a day or two ago and it took me multiple attempts to just post a comment. Took about an hour total before everything worked out.

Try logging out on the blog side, too. They're connected, and we're in the middle of tweaking things.

In tweaking things, is the mobile version of the forums off? I can't seem to find where to turn it back on.
EDIT: NVM. I ditched the phone's cookies and it seems to work now.

Yep. I usually access AC multiple times a day from primarily two computers. I have to re-do my logon about twice a day on each.
Windows7 and ie9.

Cory - forums keep logging me out multiple times a day. VERY annoying. WTF is going on? i'm using the latest version of Chrome on Win7.
also - as i've stated before - something on the site MAIN PAGE seems to be causing a major stall at almost every refresh. i think it's some kind of javascript ad/ads but it's been going on for a long time and it's downright painful. every time i go to or refresh the main page and it freezes up my Chrome Browser - all of my tabs and makes it like it's trying to pass a kidney stone for about a 6 second freeze. very annoying. and yes the superfooter is off. thanks.
