Overall the OTA update went smoothly, it was very quick and I noticed only minor issues - mostly related to my non-Touchwiz launcher. Those were related to broken "shortcuts".

The update is very nice, no overheating or battery drain. wifi and 4g connected seamlessly. Bluetooth works as expected. The only issue I see so far is the task manager "close all" function seems to get stuck. It closes the apps, but hangs (sorta) on the last app in the list. A quick hit of the home key brings you home and the task is closed. It is noticeable enough to make me share it with other folks.

Regardless, I recommend the update and think Samsung and Vz did a good job on this one (so far.... we'll see in a few days ;-)

I am experiencing the same thing. Sometimes it comes back fast enough after a press, sometimes it really stalls. I'm using Nova launcher, and I could have sworn that on one occasion it brought me to the TouchWiz launcher, then another home button press brought me back to Nova. Weird.

Does the s4 now have a wifi toggle in the drop down like the s5 does? i rooted mine and added that feature back day one when i got it near 2 years ago and also disabled the file that searched for ota updates so that i wouldnt loose what i had done.

I'm willing to up to the new one, but i wanted to make sure that the wifi toggle was there before i took the update

What pull down are you referring too? If you are talking about the notification area, mine has always had a wifi toggle and I got my S4 on day one. I took the OTA yesterday and the WiFi toggle is still there.

Same hang with "close all" happening here. This is after updating followed by a factory reset.

I have a thought about it... I think with Nova it tries to close it as an app because I notice the widget on my home screen has to reopen, with the touchwiz stock launcher no issues no delay. Just a thought.

Use Greenify guys to close active apps. Works great, free and has a 1x1 widget to press and will close whatever apps you tell it to.

Is it really necessary or are there really any benefits to doing a factory reset either before or after the update?

I get the same thing. Am using Nova launcher and looking for a fix. Not a problem so much as an annoyance :)

I might be wrong but when Verizon first sold the S4 it was on Gingerbread and they disabled the ability to toggle WiFi from the notification menu. Then sometime during one of the Gingerbread or KitKat updates it was enabled on the phones. It was one of Verizon's worst demands when the S4 first came out.
