Lollipop Google Services Battery Drain

"Google Services" is constantly my biggest battery drain. It is consistently 2x more than the next biggest power hungry app "Google Search". These two apps together account for 40% OF MY BATTERY LIFE LOST. I did a factory reset with no impact. The battery screenshots I see here from others never seem to reflect what I am seeing - the screen is always the biggest drain, which I would expect.

My X sees light to moderate use with 2 SOT usually.

Is anybody else experiencing this??

Did you install any apps that use Google Service such as Admob etc? I would remove app one my one to see what's causing it

I noticed that same issue for at least a week after updating to Lollipop. If you updated recently, give it some time and things will settle down.

Another thing you can do to reduce the impact of Google Services is to switch your location setting from high accuracy to battery saving.

Check the sync settings for your Google account in Settings. Every Google service defaults to on. Turn off those you don't use.

My battery is draining pretty fast as well. Any other tips to save battery? How about those Motorola Turbo Charger and the Motorola charger pack? I wish the Moto X 2nd Gen has the wireless charging.

I've noticed this as well and actually just put my phone on the charger before heading out to do some shopping. Battery dropped from 100% to 85% in 1 hour 10 minutes off the charger and 10 minutes of screen on time. Contrary to some suggesting a "settling down" period after the upgrade mine has gotten worse over the past week or two. I find myself needing to hit a charger mid-day nearly every day now on Lollipop, something I only rarely needed to do on Kit Kat. I like a lot of what Lollipop brings to the table but I'm very disappointed in the battery life recently.

I had the same Lolli battery drain problems too. After a couple of weeks of watching it I decided to do a factory reset which has cleared up the problem for me so far.

It's been keeping my phone awake a lot lately. Not sure why. Didn't do it when I first installed 5.0

I'm nor sure if this is a drain or a wrong report bug. I also saw it on nexus. Google services 10 / 20 % higher than 4 hours sot,
A factory reset on both fixed it, however neither batteries actually last any longer.

Yes, definitely seeing this. It's consistently bad, and sometimes worse: occasionally, it will keep the device awake constantly for an hour at a time, chewing through battery at around 30% an hour without me touching the phone once.

I do have 'high accuracy' location turned on, but the situation didn't seem vastly different using 'low battery' mode. The battery graph shows very limited GPS usage, FWIW. My Nexus 7 on Lollipop doesn't have an issue, running substantially the same apps.

I've seen a similar issue previously on the N7 (early KitKat days, I think), and it magically went away (after a Play Services update, I presume). I'm hoping for the same this time!
