Long time apple fan boy looking to jump ship

Yesterday I bought the S3. I am getting used to the texting and having a rough time with the suggestive auto correct functionality. But overall its a great product and far superior to my Iphone 4.

One of my main concerns was going to a bigger phone. However, that is not a concern anymore

Grab SwiftKey. It is a fantastic replacement and I really like it. I was a big Swype fan, but I have been sold on SwiftKey.

TAPPED in on my (now unlocked bootloader) Verizon S3

I've always been an Android user... but for the last year or so I decided to give the iPhone a try. Just this past weekend I went back to Android with the SIII. Couldn't be happier.

That's exactly how I feel. Apples not about going forward and breaking new ground it's about ease of use. I need crazy new features that sure I wouldn't use everyday but by god I have them. I havent been wowed by the iPhone in a long time(outside of jailbreaking). That dosnt negate the fact I still fear switching to android. I'm afraid the softwares clunky anthe hardwares cheap. This is all allegation for I have never owned an android device. But apple has one so bland to me. I'm tired of scowering the jailbreak community to add bells an whistles to my phone.

The fear of the OS/software being clunky and the hardware being cheap isn't a current assessment any more. From what I gather, that would be true in the beginning, but there is NOTHING clunky or cheap about the Samsung Galaxy S3! I've been one to root and mod my phones, but honestly, I've just not had the desire to with this phone! It's just so great!

I spoke with a buddy of mine this weekend who I really thought was an Apple Fan Boy too, but was surprised to find out he is an Android Junkie like myself! He said he was considering the iPhone 5 as he has the 4 right now as his main phone. He said he has decided against the iPhone 5, as from what he was reading, it's jsut not going to be enough of a difference from the 4. Plus I've had my best friend jump from Apple to Android and hasn't looked back once!

Wow that all sounds amazingly intuitive. I have been doing some more reading on the s3 and reading a lot of people getting phantom cracks on thier screen and body an ports after a few weeks. Most seem to be owners of the white gs3. Anyone have any experience with that? I know the s3 isn't as strongly built as the iPhone so I'm wondering how long it'll last even with a case.

I woudn't put a lot in store by that. Yeah, there may be some people having issues, but that doesn't mean it's the bulk of the owners. After all, the VAST majority of people, if they're happy with something, won't come to a forum and post how happy they are with their product...whatever it is. And as far as how strongly the S3 is built in comparison to the iPhone, honestly, I've felt both and I just don't feel the difference at all. Yeah, the case on the iPhone feels more clunky to me, so in that case, maybe it can take more punishment, but I've NEVER had any of my phones without a case. They make some AMAZINGLY thin cases for the S3, which adds almost NO size to the phone. I'm currently using a Ringke SlimLite case on my S3. People who see my phone don't even realize it's a case until I show 'em.

Its going to be a lawsuit fest all over the board when the ip5 comes out.

do this get a nexus 7 if you get bit by the android and love it amazing if its not exactly for you your only 200 in the hole with no contract to take your $$$ hey you can get it str eight from the source iOS is all of ease of use sometimes I wish android were somewhat easier but then again where's the fun in that? I agree its your money your decision but getting a nexus 7 would give you a window into the android world and possibly rooting it to make it even more awsome the decision is yours

I jumped ship yesterday after being a Apple lover for the past 2 years. I've sat on the fence after switching from AT&T to Verizon. I had several Androids on AT&T before settling with a 4S...After Verizon offered an amazing trade in on my phone I jumped boat and went with a 32gig 4S and was happy until I started noticing all these issues I was having with it and of course one store would tell me they could replace it, and then another told me it was a trip to the Apple Store and then was just back and forth until last night...
After my phone reset itself, deleted everything and started acting insane, I decided to take a trip in and present them with some options and see what could be done given that my phone was only about 2 months old. I really don't have the time to make a 3 hour trip to the Apple Store and a refurbished phone is not an option at this point.
So we decided to jump ship, trade in my 4S for $220, add a dummy line to my plan and then I finally had in my hands a wonderful S III which I paid $15 bucks for, because I bought a case.
It is going to take some getting use to. But I've never been happier to jump. The fact that I was constantly having to charge my battery, losing my signal, taking pictures and them being lost will never compare to the worth of what this phone can do.

I haven't even gotten to find out everything the S III can do.
It was recommended by a good friend who happens to bleed Android and put me down every time I walked in his house with an Apple product!

But, do keep your eyes open for everything new coming out, with technology always changing one can never be completely happy and sound!

Welcome (soon) to the dark side! I love Android. I have never owned an iPhone, and have always been an Android gal. But, I did purchase a new iPad 3 this past July and I like it a lot. I am not an Apple fan girl by any means but I give them props for their tablet. It is a nice piece of machinery.

I have a white SGIII and I am proud to report that I do not have any cracks on my phone's screen or body. I purchased two different covers via the store here, made by Cruzerlite. No issues there. I have had my phone since the week after July 4th. I put a clear screen protector on right away. I have not dropped it. I also keep it in my handbag in a special pocket where it won't get scratched. I am a little anal with my phones. I try to keep them as nice as I can for as long as possible. Hope that helps!

Good luck. :)

The new iPhone 5 is lame! I posted a response to another thread with some comparisons. Since I am still new here, the Mods have to approve it. Thanks for the links. :)

Ive had iPhones since the 3G(currently have iphone4) Praised them ubunently.i know the hardware and iOS front and backwards. I've also been jail breaking my iPhone since the beginning. But now I'm starting to see apple is more for ease of use than tech geeks or feature rich junkies. I've been doing crazy amounts of research on the s3 and android OS. I'm scared to make the jump but not impressed with apples current direction in making phones so easy and bland the elderly can master it. Should I make the switch to the s3? Thanks to all here for their input to this scared apple fan boy.

HA, Been there and done that. I started out as an Android fan with the Motorola Droid. Then I switched to the Iphone and fell in love. I also switched to the Ipad and Mac. Then I started having problems with my Mac and started questioning the direction of the Iphone. I wound up with the Samsung S3. It is a great phone. There are some things that I miss about the Iphone like the battery life but then the features of the S3 blow away even the new Iphone 5.

Right now I am trying to deal with the battery life which is short but I have an extended battery on order to see how that does. I am nearing the end of the 14 day experiment so, I am needing to face the decision of returning the item verses keeping it. The new Samsung Note 2 is rumored to be coming out soon along with a lot of different DROID phones. So, I expect the S3 to drop in price. As a matter of fact, there was a rumor that the S3 was selling for $99 on Amazon yesterday.

Another thing, the default keyboard will drive you nuts. You need to upgrade to the Swiftkey 3 keyboard. That will compete with the keyboard on the Iphone.
