Looking for reasonable replacement phone for Zenfone 2

I have been quite happy with my Zenfone but it has lately been starting to act up. I suspect it could be from program updates and many now expect the OS to be at least marshmallow while I am still on 5.0. I have read that there is a manual update but also some have had problems after updating. Kind of tells me a lot when Asus doesn't trust rolling out an automatic update.

Anyone with recommendations for a replace phone 5-51/2 inch screen, really would like 2 sim slots with a decent camera. Looking to keep cost below $300.

I saw someone recommending the Moto G5 and G5plus, anyone have thoughts on these. Seem in my price range also.

The G5 plus is an excellent mid-ranger and the unlocked version includes dual SIM and SD card. Great value for money.

I went from the Zen 2 to a ZTE Axon 7 and it's been a great phone and is running 7.1.

Thanks gets good reviews but a bit pricey compared to the Motos which seem to get similar reviews.
