So i got tired of stock MA6 rom and not being able to remove the sms screen on notification. I began looking at different ROMS and flashed fre3 then fre3 2.4beta. Anyways, I really want a stock looking rom ( dont care about theme mods and all) that has touchwiz (very important because apex absolutely sucks), and has performance with battery mods, and it must be slim (not packed with useless themes, added apps, and such).

Thanx

Goodness rom is pretty nice. Gives you options for stock touchwiz, apex, or nova launchers. This is the first rom I have flashed and I really like it. One problem seems to be battery life, but I have heard that it takes a couple days after flashing to get back to normal. Either way, has its own updater where you can download and flash different kernels, themes, mods....your choice. Also has working multi-window. I think its based off LJ7 but I am nor sure how that will affect you.

I can't help but think it would be simpler to just install Handcent than flashing ROMs, if what you really want is to eliminate the pop up SMS notification and like everything else about TW.

I agree about Handcent. It beats the stock sms app to death.

Yep. I haven't tried any other ROMs on my GS3. I *may*, one of these days, but my experience on prior phones was like yours. In general, they're not nearly as stable as the factory ROM. There's a reason why Samsung, HTC, Sprint, etc. don't roll out new ROMs every few weeks, or even every few months. A big part of that reason is that they test them far more thoroughly than any of the hobbiest ROM developers can afford to do.

If your phone is a hobby, and you love to play with it, then trying custom ROMs may be great. If it's a tool you need for business, the hassles that come with most of these just isn't worth it. My humble opinion only.

The only ROMs I stuck with on prior devices were lightly modified versions of the stock ROM.

I experienced same with a few HTC evos that I had.
