Hi there,

I?m thinking of converting over to android from the iPhone i have to date trusted and loved. The main reason being that the iPhone 5 isn?t offered unlocked yet...

Can anyone tell me what version of this phone i should get? I?ve noticed there are different versions going about, with dual core and quad core and different amounts of memory.

The phone has to work internationally...

Am i correct in thinking that the specs here are the best that i will find:
Amazon.com: Samsung Galaxy S III / S3 Unlocked GSM Smart Phone (Marble White): Cell Phones & Accessories

do you have LTE (4g) internet where you live?
where do you live? :)

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or crazy) guess ;)

Hi, well here (Iceland) we only have 3G but 4G was supposidly coming this year so if that makes a big difference it would be nice but not neccessary.

The phone they sell here has "3G+" (HSDPA) and also GPRS with EDGE...

You need the standard International S3, which I believe is the SIII with 1GB RAM and an Exynos Quad Core if I'm not mistaken.

Tau is correct. the gt-i9300 like ive got.
wow iceland is the number one place i wana visit before i die. its beautiful and the people seem really trippy ;)

..oh yea theres two memory versions, 16gb and 32gb. you can use micro SD cards though for extra music and video storage but not apps so only get the 32gb version if you play big android games

So the one that i'm linking to at the top is the wrong version because it has 2gb of ram?

I recommend visiting Iceland from may-sept any year (it' warmest then and more barable weather)

I think it just has the wrong specs, possible. It says Exynos and GSM. This is how it works

There are 2 (2 and ahalf, I guess) variants of the SIII

The international- GSM, HSPA, Quad Core Exynos, 1GB RAM

The USA-GSM/CDMA, LTE, 1.5 Snap Dragon S4, 2GB RAM

USA/TMobile-GSM, HSPA (TMo has no LTE), 1.5GhZ SnapDragon S4, and 2GB Ram

Yeah, thats what i had been reading so the specs there were strange to me. But there actually seem to be alot of these phones on Amazon listed with these same specs...

So i think i?m correct in saying that CDMA is not an option for me, only GSM and unlocked. Then am i correct in thinking that the T-Mobile-GSM is the most powerful (except for the LTE) - and LTE is = 4G ? :)

yeah LTE = 4g mate. how fast is the hsdpa or hspa+ 3g signal where you are?
the UK has been promised 4g soon but my 3g is fast enough for browsing, the only time id notice 4g speeds is downloading torrents.
the quad core (gt-i9300) is a bit more powerful than the US versions but they have more ram.
no apps really push the s3 to its limit yet so the gamble is: will i get affordable 4g soon, will future apps/games need 4 cores or more RAM ;)

No, the strongest the Verizon/Sprnit/ATT USA one. TMO is Identical BUT it has no LTE, only HSPA so it's slower a bit.
It is the same as the rest of the US aside from the LTE so it's not a right comparison. Go with the International GSM one, a TMo one might have radio issues

The 3G signal actually sucks here and we?re often just getting EDGE really so having 4G isn?t really that big of an issue for me. I?m also most of the time connected through wireless connetions.

But i also noticed that the there seems to be a version - gt-i9305 that has both Quad core and the 2gb of ram? Or is the wikipedia page wrong: (scroll to around middle for table)

I sent the guy on Amazon a note asking if his speccs were wrong also :) It?s actually incredible that some of those guys don?t even bother to say whether the phone is 16GB or 32GB...

Still Amazon is by far the cheapest place to get the phone that i?ve found... :)
