Lost internal memory

[AC Question]

I got Tablet Stark Groove 8G-1BI6C-A 8",QC MTK8382 1.2Ghz/1GB/8GB/3G/DualCam/Andr 4.4

It should have 8 GB internal memory, but i have only 0.98 GB available. With viber and whatsup instaled i have 200-300 MB only left.

Where my 8 GB gone?

No pictures, movies or multimedia on tablet, no games instaled.

I saw many people have problem, but no exact solution.

Is rooting tablet only way?

Tablet is under guarantie.

Welcome to the forums. The OS is going to take about 4 GB. So really, you only have 4 GB of space for yourself. Is there a way you can post a photo or a screenshot of the storage stats?

Tablet have 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 16 GB SD card inserted.

But only 0.98 GB available.

It's looks like they partitioned the international in a strange way. Early versions of Android needed to be done this way, but I think it was Android 4, ICS, that allowed having only 1 partition for the user.

I'm honestly not sure anything can be done. Maybe a reset, in case an app is misreporting storage to the OS.

Maybe rooting the tablet, reinstaling android, reformating, reparticioning?

What is Stark manufacturer of that tablet? No trace on net...

Stay away from trying to root the device unless you want a big paperweight. You will never find firmware for these off brand devices so if something goes wrong, you're SOL.

Boot into recovery, factory reset the device, and report back.
