Lost Root and Everyone is Confusing Me

I'm stupid. I forgot I bought Flash Touch...which, once I hit that and used the install ROM command from ROM Manager, it seems to be working just fine. Duh.

lol. I would still look for that file, just in case. Like I said though, I've never seen it so whatever I did took care of the issue for me.

Hey dmmarck. My AOKP B38 won't install. I did the factory reset (I read in a few places that it's "cleaner" this way) first in CWM, then tried to install. It keeps aborting installation. I downloaded the build for toro LTE GNex. What did I do wrong!?

I would re-download it. Check aokp.co to make sure you have the right one--toro (NOT toroplus; that's Sprint!).

Make sure you have GAPPs too. The latest is 4/29.

To install, reboot into recovery, do your wipes (as you did), install from SD ==> find the AOKP file, hit that. DON'T REBOOT ONCE FINISHED. Find the GAPPS file, install from SD that file.

I re-downloaded, made sure it was toro. Reset in CWM, still aborted installation.

It sounds like you have a deeper issue then.

Some questions:

(1) Do you have a Superuser app/are rooted (I know we've been over this, but it doesn't hurt to double double triple check). Since you're on 4.0.2, you should also go into the superuser app and update it. This is probably not the source of the issue, but it doesn't hurt and SU should always be maintained/up to date.

(2) Reflash CWM in ROM Manager so you know for sure you have it and it's up to date.

Other than that, I suggest making a backup in CWM. After that, reboot system, then go BACK into CWM, wiping the phone COMPLETELY. Data, cache, dalvik. Then "format system," which is under mounts/storage.

After that, it should work.

Edit: I know you locked/relocked. I would root as well if you didn't (see #1). This will make things a whole lot easier in some respects. And also, if you get through the whole process knowing it's 100% correct, then it eliminates potential issues.

Okay. I mean you want me to root again? I'm pretty sure I'm rooted. I have SuperSU, updated it, I flashed ClockworkMod Recovery from ROM Manager and it asked for rot access. I made another backup of my stock rom. I'm going to try installing aokp again.

Ok. There's absolutely no reason why it should be aborting the install at that point unless the downloaded file is corrupt. Did you download via mobile networks, wifi, or did you download to a computer then transfer?

I'd recommend the latter.

Didn't work. I have the exact files your links show to download. I transferred them from my computer to the internal storage. Still giving me aborted installation. I wiped Delvik, regular cache, factory reset. Still nothing. I'll try downloading your links and try one more time.

Flash CWM again?

I have to apologize--I'm at a loss as to what is going on.

It's alright. I'll just stick with 4.0.2 for now and wait until the next build I guess. I downloaded the links you provided and replaced my old b38 and gapps files, but still aborted. I flash CWM every time before I boot into recovery mode.

I just don't understand what's going on. Something is broken, but where I have no idea.

I mean at this point, if you really wanted it you could take it all the way back to stock--lock, unrooted, etc., then unlock and root again. This will erase everything and ensure that you have a clean install of CWM and SU.

I might try that. Can I store my backup file on my computer so when it wipes my sd I can put it back on my sd from my computer? Or is there something that will go wrong if I do that?

Honestly, if it's the backup you just made while trying to flash AOKP, I wouldn't bother. If there's some wrong deep within your phone it will probably also be wrong in the backup. I'd try to start fresh in every way possible.

The one on Galaxy Nexus Root.com. Yea, I locked and unlocked, which is what I did before when I had my initial problem and lost root after the OTA update.

Check your PMs. I sent you a guide I've used personally. The Mac guide here is also great.

If this isnt resolved i'll look thru page 2 and 3 in the morning. Dying right now so i have to get some sleep. Or you can shoot me a pm if you need some troubleshooting mac fastboot/terminal commands.gl
