Love or Hate your Galaxy Note 3?

Enough already. You people are enabling me. I have a GS3 that works flawlessly. But I'm bored with it. May have to pick up the N3.

The Note 3 out of the box has a significantly better battery life than the S3. Better than the S4 too. I'm not sure what the difference is either. I know that the battery is bigger. But, I don't see how that makes such a difference when the screen is so much larger.

The one thing that I am noticing though, at least for me, is the home button. A lot of the time when I push the home button I'm also touching part of the screen which then opens the app drawer. I'm not sure if if it's the button versus the size of the screen or how my home launcher is scaling things. But, I'm feeling like I have fat fingers. LOL

Warming up quickly to the Note 3. It is big, but I love what they've done to the Spen functions. Much better than before. Skipped the Note 2. And now that there root for the Verizon version, I'm a happy guy.

Speaker is so so though. I'll admit, the Gear is the primary factor in my keeping of the Note 3. If it were cross manufacturer like the Pebble, I'd probably be back to the HTC One, primarily becaus eof size.

My only real beef so far is wishing s voice was a little more robust. Well, and TouchWiz but that is a given.

S-Voice is still pretty lame...use Google Now/Voice commands. It has improved to the point that I use it all the time and it rarely fails me.

Try a third party launcher like Nova or Apex or whatever suits your fancy. For those who don't care for it, Touchwiz should not be a con to using any Samsung Device as it can be "replaced" in 3 seconds.

^ This...basically.

I'm looking to make the same transition next month myself. Have they updated Swype so one can delete unwanted "kiddie speak /T9 words" like "ur" and "10q"? Found that highly annoying!

I don't know, because I can't recall ever having any major issues with such chat-speak terms coming up when I typed. The settings for Swype does have a "My Words" section, which has "Edit my dictionary", but I think that's only for words you enter. It also has "Living Language" to "automatically update Swype with popular new words" -- maybe turning that off would help. There's also "Social integration" to "learn from Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail", but it looks like those are off by default, since you have to sign in to your accounts so that things like contact names can be added to your personal dictionary. Maybe some of those settings will help? Otherwise, you may be able to try whatever the standard method is for removing words. I think when one comes up in the pop-up list, you can long tap (?) it to get a menu and tell it to remove the word from there. I rarely had to do that though, so I might be remembering it a bit wrong. I hope this is of some help, but perhaps others can provide more information.

wow....i think you summed up iphone in a way which is sort of sad, when you said, she doesn't care about what this phone can do. she wants simple. simple seems like it could be synonymous with boring way too easily. i'm not a fan of apple but the death of innovation is sad indeed for the industry as a whole.

I don't think simple necessarily equates to lacking innovation

lol, try to sell it on ebay or somewhere for $200-300 and buy the GN3 with it.

Yeah I'm gonna press her until the iPhone is officially ordered so there's still hope lol. Not sure if I'm willing to pay the additional $300 for a note off contract. Maybe soon enough I'll find someone on craigslist that don't like it and will trade for the S4 and some $$ or something.

I had someone offer me the LG G2 but wanted $200 with my S4. I said no way they are the same price on and of contract and I'm actually a fan of Samsung's ui and it's features. Only thing I liked about the G2 was the camera stabilization otherwise I'd prefer keeping the S4 or getting my hands on the Note 3.

I am thrilled with it. It can do so much or it can be just as simple as a Nexus. The screen is just deliciously gorgeous...just like the Note 3.

I'm soo tempted to sell my Nexus 10 to buy the Note 10.1 2014 ...
I'm kind of waiting for the 2nd Gen Nexus 10 to make my decision.

I absolutely love this phone! By far the best phone I've owned to date. Haven't had a single issue with it (knock on wood). This beautiful beast out performs my Note 10.1 and I thought that thing was flawless. This phone is my new baby. Lol

Received mine 2 days ago. Coming from the EVO 4G. Got bored with that phone. I can't put this phone down! I'll shut it off, and in a little while, I pick it back up again and start playing. I know it is a phone. Outside of my 80" flat screen, and Alienware 14, it is the best big boy toy I have. Oh, get the s-view case. Found it today at the at&t store near my house. A little pricey, $65, but I love it.

I really love it. I came from the Note 2, and am very pleased with the enhancements. As others have mentioned, my only gripe it with the volume placement. I keep hitting it too. The case I bought does not make it harder to press. ha I don't see myself ever going with something smaller than the Note line again. Like I said, I had the Note 2, and even bought the S4 (I wanted to try out AT&T), but I never used it. It seemed too small. I can't even imagine having to use a 4" screen anymore, which is what my first Android device was. The increased size helps me a great deal, especially working in remote desktop, which is what I am doing most of the time.

"Why on earth did they put the USB port on the side of the charger instead of on the bottom? You can't plug anything in next to it!"

That is one singular port - a micro usb 3 . Faster data transfer and faster charging. They are not separate usb and charger ports. Though it is backward compatible with usb 2, which only takes the right side of the connector when you plug it in.

I had the Note 2 as well and I thought that device was the best thing around at the time. I have similar feelings about this phone. I have a good case for it I have the 64 GB card, and I have unlimited talk, text, and data. I am ready to do any and everything with this phone.

Did you have any problem with it being reognized the first time you powered on w/ it inserted? I tossed mine in post setup and had to reboot twice before it showed up as mounted. Flawless since but momentarily troubling to see.

I am loving this phone so much. I initially had an issue where it would drop to 3G and not come back, but after a few days of this, I went back to the Verizon store and swapped SIMs. I was using my VGNex SIM. This fixed the problem.

Now, my battery is lasting all day. I'm getting 4G signals in places where I never could before. And the screen...

Hog heaven!

Unfortunately yes, since i switch them so much but i usually sell my old (well old to me) on Craigslist pretty quick to offset the cost...

I was talking about the usb port on the mains charger, not on the phone.
