Low free memory on Marshmallow 6.0?

When I had lollipop installed I had about 800 -1gb of free available memory. Now with Marshmallow I have only 550 available. I checked the memory information screen under the settings and see that that News Republic app that HTC is trying to force us to use takes up 128 mb which is quite a lot. Anyone else noticed high memory usage in Marshmallow 6.0?

Yep, me too, and then the os takes 7.2Gb of that space

Yes should have been more clear, not taking about storage taking of RAM memory. Generally, It seems to work actually better than lollipop 5.0.1 but I find that it had less available ram when whenever I check the stats, just wondered if anybody else noticed this too?
