LS670ZVJ Update Coming 4/4

Just a reminder for those like me just checking to see if zip has been uploaded and you didn't see it, you can find the ZVJ zip on page 30.

Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

[INFO]I have successfully rooted ZVJ using sfhub's guide for ZVH here:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...-ls670zvh-links-root-zvd-zv9.html#post1254213

****Important****

Follow all steps the exact same way EXCEPT in step 4, Flash the ZVJ update.zip instead of ZVH.
Get the ZVJ update zip here: (just rename it to update.zip)

ZVJ - update.zip

I'm sure an up to date guide will be created soon.

Enjoy![/INFO]
So let me get this straight, we are flashing the ZVH recovery(according to step 3 [zvhrec.zip] ), If so when does it turn into the ZVJ recovery (I understand subistute ZVJ update.zip in step 4)? and also using the ZVH root package [zvhroot.zip] according to step 6..
Now I need to see if I can get a working data2ext mod for ZVJ. Hopefully it will not be to hard.

Yes you are correct and this update does not come with a new recovery, so you will have ZVH recovery still after flashing the update.zip. that's what allows us to gain root access. If you keep the ZVD recovery when you flash ZVJ, you can't root it.

Just an update, I can verify the double tap bug is still present in some form. I installed go launcher and it went crazy with it. Uninstalled and rebooted and it seems to be gone again. So far I have only noticed it with go launcher, and largely when trying to arrange the homescreen. I will try a different launcher, perhaps go launcher is too resource heavy.

It was doing it to me with Launcher 7 too. I flashed drew's Gingerkernel and it's stopped.

I have also seen some incorrect touch behavior on stock ZVJ; Swype occasionally enters two words instead of the one I was trying to enter and I had trouble dragging icons around on the launcher.

As of right now, no there is not a simple root method for the zvj baseband. Below is the only known way to root zvj and involves starting from either rooted zvd or zvh. Every step is needed and important.

The only way we know how to root zvj right now is using the old zvh method, which requires using adb.

Well, I was tempted to revert back to stock to see if the ZVJ update would be pushed to my phone. So I did.

And it was.

Here's the link for the ZVJ update.zip (with a weird filename): 4114be2aeb15.update.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Caution: I just flashed it through Xionia and although it did work, with baseband mvj, software zvj, all those nice Js...I had no cellular service. I am currently reverting to zvd to do the ota install.

Edit: Flashing through STOCK recovery is the way to go! Thanks jstntp!

Is there any way to download this without signing up for the file sharing site?

So I've had the Voice Mail Update prompt on my phone since it came out. Apparently that old update isn't compatible with some 2.3 versions for some reason so I can't actually install the update. Says I don't have enough space.

Anyway, does anyone who had that same problem, have the new version installed and can you finally install the stupid VM update

I've had no issues downloading this in ZVD, ZVH or ZVJ. I'll bet if you fix the space issue you'll be good. But you'll need to find what's full.

My money's on cache but you should be able to find out for sure by going to Settings -> SD Card & phone storage. If both have a lot of space available (phone over 50 MB should be more than enough) then you might want to look at clearing cache and see how it does.

On a side note, did you do a factory reset when you upgraded? Found it helped my wife's phone. But don't do it if you've already dropped a ROM in place of stock.

Didn't factory reset, just let it apply the update. After that we rooted the phone but didn't install anything new on it other than Wireless Tether. Probably not a huge deal if we redo it but we'll be traveling this weekend so I'll hold off in case we can't get it rerooted for some reason.
