LS670ZVJ Update Coming 4/4

to the people who managed to get zvj and are willing to give it up for a moment: could you downgrade to zvd, root it, and see if you can get the update prompt again? if you can, could you try getting the update.zip for us? that's be great.

i dont think you will... more than likely you will have to take it to a sprint store or wait till they actually put the upgrade file on the website.. which they almost always do... im sure some people will end up having to do this... i didnt get the froyo update till about a month after it came out.. so be patient im sure it will be coming this week or next

Well, I was tempted to revert back to stock to see if the ZVJ update would be pushed to my phone. So I did.

And it was.

Here's the link for the ZVJ update.zip (with a weird filename): 4114be2aeb15.update.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Caution: I just flashed it through Xionia and although it did work, with baseband mvj, software zvj, all those nice Js...I had no cellular service. I am currently reverting to zvd to do the ota install.

Edit: Flashing through STOCK recovery is the way to go! Thanks jstntp!

And yes, stock recovery is the way to go! Cellular and data is now working Thanks!

ok downloaded app carrier iq dector by lookout mobile security and it advises that "Your device does not have Carrier IQ". I installed the update posted above.

Installed the update via Xionia and everything works fine... WiFi and Cell both work.

-shrug- I can't say for sure that cell service actually /works/, as this phone doesn't have service - but it's pulling network time and flashing the roaming indicator at me.

Xionia wouldn't have flashed the radio. However if the radio hasn't changed that much newer ROMs can work with older radios. We found that with ZVC radio and ZVD ROM.

However often if the radio has changed a lot, then it won't work. Possibly ZVH to ZVJ was not that large a radio change, but ZVD to ZVJ is probably a large enough change to cause issues.

There we go! ZVJ rooted no problem following the rooting guide mentioned above. Don't be downloading the ZVH update - the entire process uses the ZVJ update.zip - replace ZVJ for ZVH in that entire thread. Download ZVJ update.zip. Install the VH recovery. Follow the steps thereafter using the ZVJ update.zip file. Make sure you are already rooted as well!
