For me there a couple main advantages of the Galaxy S8 or S8+ over the competition. :)

  1. Aspect Ratio - We are so used to the 16:9 aspect ratio these days since most devices have it. Samsung is looking to push the boundaries with that and create an extra wide display. Obviously we will have black bars on the side for now but things may change in the future :)
  2. Borderless Bezel Design - We have been asked for a little while now for less bezels and slowly but surely we are getting it and i think this will help sales.
  3. Iris Scanner & Finger Print - The Iris scanner is ust another features or tool in Samsung's feature box that not many other devices have and could be a nice selling point.
  4. Force Touch Area (Not Confirmed) - Potential competition to Apple's 3D touch. Buti heard its only on a small section of the device and not the whole screen/

I'm very excited for this device :D

I think it may have facial recognition, not just iris specific. But well see soon

Love the usb-c too

Wait until it's actually revealed officially and you'll add a few more points to that list, I'm sure. Most of those features are already on the S7E.
Don't forget HDR (not confirmed yet), improved camera performance and Bixby.

I am still rocking my old and fateful Galaxy S4(rooted and flashed to 6.0) and imho i still don't find any reasons to buy the S8...
I made the jump from the S1 to the S4 and it was hugely noticeable however when I played with my brother's S7 edge there was nothing that sold me to ship 680 usd (my country's price).

- Large 5.7 inch display with small bezels
- SD 835 with quickcharge 4.0
- Iris scanner
- Water-resistance
- New camera improvements?

- 8 MP front facing camera with face detection
- 1000 fps video recording
- Bixby
- Updated S health

Maybe positives, usb-c and facial / iris scanning.
Definate negative, tall skinny display.

I'm not a fan of a tall skinny phone. I like the wider design. Note 7 was great, and others like V20, Nexus 6 Plus, sizewise they're super.

The S8+ will probably have close to the same form factor of the Note7. It will just be more screen, which changes the aspect ratio. The Note7 was a tall narrower phone. The S8+ is just like increasing the overall size by a few percent all around.

Bragging rights. Having a Samsung flagship is always synanymous to having the latest from iPhone. If you think very well, apps that you can install on a Samsung Galaxy S8 can also be installed in other phones. There are other phones that has 12mp camera. There's LG G6 and Sony XA that is also bezel less. Lots of phones nowadays also have 4gb RAM.

Having a Samsung Galaxy S8 is like a status symbol.

Even while writing this comment I'm still unsure if i like or dislike the idea of a extra tall devices. I think i will have to see and use the Galaxy S8 in person and then make that decision. At the moment I'm more a fan of wider devices like the Blackberry PRIV (77.2mm) or the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (76.1mm). Just means i can have a bigger display while keeping the device relatively short. But who knows, my preference may change once i get the device in my hand :D

Based on all the rumors and leaked photos, I agree with this. Only one more day til we all find out as a whole slew of "Hands On" videos will be posted shortly after the big event.

I'm excited for the official reveal. I'm still on my Nexus 6 and can't find a good reason to leave it. Curious if the S8 will give me that reason. Form factor and screen dimensions are a huge deal for me.

I am interested to see how the new aspect ratio really affects the reading experience on the S8.
I know it will be a bit weird on most videos (black bars on sides) but I could live with that, I rarely watch movies on my phone. But in terms of reading websites, or ebooks, that is something I am anxious to hear about. I feel it's a good thing I can't rush out and buy a new phone yet. By the time I can pay off my current phone and get a new one, people will have been using the G6, the S8 for a few months and hopefully the Note 8 will be past the first month of use. For once, I am not going to be tempted by preorder goodies because I can't afford to preorder. I am looking forward for once to having other peoples' experience not just the first gushing reviews, to rely on.
