Major Bionic Issues, Anyone else?

I hate to say it but after all the hype this phone turned out to be a bust.

A "bust;" give me a break! This phone is terrffic; it runs very smooth, very fast, and the voice on phone calls is great. EVERY new phone has issues; let's see how it works AFTER the first OTA update.

I mean if you like it cool but it definitely wasnt worth my upgrade. Too many problems and not enough improvements. That and the fact that it had the most terrible camera i've ever had on a smartphone.

So, now I'm annoyed. 14 day period is long gone and i've now experienced the data drop issue and i was graced with my first black screen of death tonight. Couple that with call connect sounds that i've turned off but still sound...and I'm not too happy.

Yeah I returned mine..I can't believe you guys don't return every one of these. A 300$ phone or any phone for that matter should not have any of these issues. None. Vzw, moto, android should be ashamed to release such a disgusting product.

Had my bionic about a month. Two nights ago I forgot to charge the phone and the next day the phone would not re-charge or power-on. Tried all the fixes. Called tech support and Verizon is sending me another phone. Very disappointing as I was enjoying the phone and had no other troubles.

I'm not very happy with my Bionic right now. When it works, it is great. However, it keeps restarting randomly, at times even going into a boot loop.

I feel like every time I look over at my phone, the Motorola dual core screen is up and the phone is restarting. The past two days have been exceptionally bad with the phone boot looping for at least 10 minutes until I finally get fed up, take the case off and take out the battery. This doesn't always fix it either.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the restarts. It happens on the lock screen, while using different apps, while restarting etc..

Sometimes it pops right back up and is fine again for a few hours/days, but it has always happened again.

Is anyone else having this same type of problem? I'm sort of worried that I can't take it back either, as my 2 weeks are up.

As I typed that, I had my phone's battery out, letting it cool off/rest as it was boot looping. I just put it back in and guess what? Boot looping again.

SMH Motorola.

Sounds like you have an app that isn't playing nice or a dud.
SMH Motorola.

Just let it sit with sim card, memory card and battery out for an hour. Replaced everything, turned it on and it is still boot looping.

Since your phone is boot looping there really is no way to access much on the phone. You can get into recovery by holding both volume buttons and pressing power on while holding. That boot menu Should bring you to a recovery option. There you can reset the phone. Follow the directions below.

Tip: Load the DROID Bionic Boot Menu for Stock Recovery, SBF Flashing, and More - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

If you turn the phone in after the 14 day mark, there is a good chance you will be getting a OEM replacement, not a new phone per say. Try returning in the store and requesting a new one in person. You might have a shot that way.

Good luck.

I probably should also mention that im not familiar with everything on this menu. Changing some things could brick the phone, Not that it really matter since its not booting, but i thought i should mention this.

It has since come out of the boot loop. I hope that whatever update that Motorola pushes out fixes it. Otherwise, I'm going to have to wait to see if rooting with a nice ROM will fix it.

I picked up my Bionic first thing Thursday morning from my local store in NC. Shortly after that my daughter and I took off for a weekend trip to IL. The phone is fantastic and I've had none of the rebooting issues that I've seen mentioned. Battery life is decent - although I did buy the spare battery & now think that I was a genius for doing that.

I have only had the following two problems:

1) Apps tend to uninstall themselves - the app is on the home-screen, but when I try to launch it shows that it is not installed. Checking the app list shows that the app is not on my phone and I have to go to market to re-install.

2) Data Connectivity Issues - as a few others noted I've had the problem with switching from 4G to 3G and losing signal in the process. After a few minutes I get it back. Also, when in a roaming area I have no data. All settings are correct and data roaming is turned on. I saw this over the course of my trip and also noticed that when roaming I would have people tell me that they tried to call or text but when I checked my phone there were no missed calls/texts.

I live in a 4G market and the phone is great at home. Unfortunately, I work an hour north and I spend my day roaming. Switched to Wi-Fi while I'm in the office.

Guess I'll be making a trip past the VZW store by the house tonight.

My Bionic and my wife's EVO Shift both have the random disappearing app happening. I'm thinking this may be a software bug....except we're running two different versions, so you'd think this would have been addressed by now. Not too happy with this! :(

My bionic was only messing up apps moved to the media area. So I had none stored there. But it still happened once on a while and I discovered that it was some apps I updated. Turns out a few apps will automatically install to the media area, and you have to go and move them back to the phone after an update.

Just a follow-up. I've had two (2) Bionics since the opening date of 9/8. Both of them exhibited extreme problems. 1) Drops apps (2-8 at a time) everytime you shut it off, n o matter where they are stored. 2) Shuts itself off, 3) Reboots itself for no reason after I shut it off 20 minutes earlier 4) Screen freezes and nothing will work , except removing the battery fixes this (at which time I lose more apps). This happens on a daily basis. I started with Verizon who gave me a run-around and then said it was a Motorola problem. Motorola washed their hands and said it was a Verizon problem. After trying the normal customer service (really a misnomer) I do what I've done in the past with poor responses from the bottom, I contacted the top via email. That same day i got a call from Verizon Corporate being all apologetic, and agreed to refund everything, phone and all accesories even though I was into my 4th week (2 weeks beyond the normal return period). So at this time I'm back with my DROID2 that has worked perfectly for 1.5 yrs and plan on keeping it forever. I'm tired of being a beta-tester for Verizon/Motorola!

If you wish some form of response instead of the cust. service dance, contact Exec Relations @ Verizon 203-741-7486

In my opinion, everyone with problems with the Bionic should demand a full refund and go to another phone. I sure as heck would return a car that I paid top dollar for if it only worked correctly 60% of the time. The Bionic is a big dissappointment and am very glad to return to my DROID2 which gives me great service without any problems, and I have the confidence that it will work everytime I pick it up. Not so for the Bionic. Bionic great idea, poor execution. Both Verizon and Motorola get D for a grade.
