Major Bionic Issues, Anyone else?

No, you just go to manage applications and then media area and uncheck everything. After app updates you may want to check again as some apps tend to default to the media area. But not many, I haven't had it happen for a while, and I have 90 apps that are being updated periodically.

How do you force apps to NOT install on the SD card or "media memory"? Is there an option to turn this off?

Thanks

All of my apps have installed to internal store by default. If you have some on your SD card go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications. Click on the Media area tab, if you have any apps with green check marks then they are stored on your SD and most likely wont be working.

They should never install on the SD card. If they are there then you have moved them there. At least that's how it's supposed to work :(

I do believe apps from the Amazon store have the option to install on the SD card though.

I'm amazed at your last comment. Just because you have had issues doesn't mean every single person that owns a Bionic has your problems. Having owned cell phones from the day of the bag phone, yeah, I know that makes me old, I have seen problems pop up. Hell, I have the Blue screen of death on just about every PC I've ever owned. Does that mean they are all junk? I have 4 Bionics in my family, plus two others in my sales group with them. Some like me have had the BSOD once, others never and they have been in service for a month. Not a big deal to pull battery and get on with life. I come from the Blackberry line and i have had an occasion to do a battery pull on my last Curve many times. I'm hopeful the minor problems I have seen will be corrected with the update. Some on here sound like they may have gotten lemons and you may be one of them. Does not mean all phones are junk and that people like me are stupid for liking it.

Another lame post. Probably has a IDumbPhone

I hear ya'. I have been using mobile phones since '91, and computers since the early '80a and nothing has been perfect. I used to swear by my NBA, and in fact only switched over to Android because I free tired of waiting for something worthy to come along. Had my Bionic for a month now and did one battery pull. That guy is probably in 8th grade!

Probably doesn't know how to operate a smart phone. Well at least he will save money when he realizes every smart phone will be over his head and has to settle with a dumb phone.
The bionic is by far the best phone I've ever owned. Ever since we got 4g two Weeks ago I have not had a single problem. Man I love this phone.

Is it possible that Verizon fixes the random restart issues in the next update?

It is completely random. I can go a few days with no restart, then one day I'll hear my phone restart about 15 times in a row in a boot loop. It's about a 50% chance that when it finally starts up that it will have wireless service or that my speed dial widget will show up with the people filled in. Most of the time I can't use the network and the speed dial app is blank.

I'm not rooted and I don't have any weird apps installed. I can't figure out what is causing the problem. I'm past the return window by a few weeks. Is there anything I can do?

Gosh, I'm lucky. The only problems I'm having is the periodic failed install due to "insufficient space."

That and my Voyager 855 A2DP headset can't maintain consistent connectivity while playing music unless it has line of sight. It can transmit over 30 feet if the phone it's on a desk, but put it in my pocket and walk and it stutters. :(

My bionic has the exact connection issues reported by topic creator and the force closing stuff. I also have issues with random programs on my SD card not appear on my device till i restart

I just got my 3rd Bionic in the mail. This one was made 42/11, so the 42nd week of 2011. This means it was around October 24th and I got it on the 28th. It has slight sticker changes but nothing much. I wonder if the headphone whine is fixed. I'll find out soon enough!

Edit: It still has the whine. One interesting thing is that the new Bionic actually sits level where as the old Bionic wouldnt sit level. The one corner would hover a little above a flat surface.

Many problems myself, wife too. Turns itself OFF, turns itself ON after power down, screen freeze, what next? Verizon is going to send me my 3rd! Bionic first 2 and wifes Bionic did same..1st 3 bionic's we've owned!!! All defective WTF

The signal loss issue is really becoming annoying. Transitioning between 3g, 4g and wifi really seems to be a problem. Looking forward to the update.

- constant (and i mean like 20x a day) signal loss

- incorrect battery reading. it will say i go from 100% to 90% in 10 mins with no apps running. in fact, most times i charge it fully, the graph will only start at 90% instead of 100%

- today i was using the phone, and the stock battery icon in the status bar showed almost a full green (probably 90% as a sliver was missing). i was browsing the web and the phone shut off and wouldnt turn back on. i battery pulled but still nothing happened. finally i charged it, and it showed it was at 0%. wtf?

i have not rooted anything and haven't installed much out of the ordinary. no task killers, no 3rd party battery widgets, etc. ugh

You do realize its in 10% increments don't you. When your phone first drops to 90% it is at 99 not 90%. Try getting a one percent increment battery widget and it will ease your mind.

I'm going by the lines on the graph. After an extended period of time (say 6 hours), the graph drops almost straight down from the 100% level to the 90% level. From here, it will discharge more or less at a normal rate.

I still receive messages periodically when I try to install apps, or update apps that there is insufficient space available and that the install failed.
