I am not a DEV, beyond just writing a zip script, and just happened to discover this unknown (at least to most) method using "/preinstall" to run our recovery from. I am sure Peperm1nt could step in here to ans a Q.

Yes. Though it is not an apk. Will not work w/ cm7 or Miui.
