AC Question

Hello Folks!

Yesterday, I installed 360 security from google play and ran the scan. It detected a malware called 'Demo stub' and when i gave the fix command, it said that root access is required for this. Now here are my questions:
1, Could it be possible that it was a false detection as in this case?(I have an s4 I bought from T-mobile)
Sophos scan on Android phone shows threat but won'... - SophosTalk community
2, If it a malware, how do i remove this? I would prefer not to gain root access as I will loose my samsung warranty.

Appreciate your help folks

Akhilesh

Hi guys. I think the only way to get rid of it is... get rid of it. I'm rooted and even I can't uninstalled or delete it, only disabled.

I used ES File Explorer, turned on "Show hidden files" just in case, and then just did a search for it.
Here's a screenshot:

If anyone finds a way to delete it, that would rock.

EDIT: Titanuim Backup Root did the trick, it's easy to uninstall it. It'll warn you that it's tied of the ROM but there's no issues after deletion.

Hi guys yesterday I brought a I slide tablet and installed 360 security .After the first scan I got a message malware detected and root privileges are required to remove them. The malware is listed as com.sts Trojan. Kindly advice How to remove it

It's not really malware or anything bad. It can't be real because my mom and me both have the LG G Flex and first she saw this on her phone, and as soon as I updated my 360 Security app I see it says I have this Demo Stub thing as well. Has to have something to do with the 360 Security update

Found this on my wife's Samsung Note 3 using Advanced Mobile Care. She isn't rooted so she can't delete it. Seems harmless. From what I've read here it appears as though it's just a leftover "stub" of the old demo they run when displaying it in store. Not 100% sure. I hate unauthorized apks on any device. Rooting isn't an option for her. If anyone finds a way to remove without root please put a reply for it.

Updated CM security antiviral Dat files and a scan picked this demo stub version tmous-1.1 as malicious... non rooted on lollipop 5.1.1 I [forced stop] and [disabled] it from app info screen. It looks like a false positive but likely not needed and perhaps phone runs better without it running in background since I've no intentionsuch of running phone in demodemo heh.

Hey all I am running CM Security Latest Version and it came up telling me that demo stub tmous-1.1 (1) was a trojan and on future scans with CM Security Latest Version its not showing up anymore So Weird..

Just did a through Deep Scan with Lookout Security that came by default on my tmobile Note 4 (SM-N910T) running Lollipop 5.0.1 and it didn't say that demo stub tmous was even a trojan but its weird that cm security did catch it as a trojan Hmmm super strange...

I have a galaxy s5 and AVG security which all of sudden has found this demo stub and flagged it as malware to. I didn't have a problem with it showing up before until I did the latest update to 5.1.1 on my phone. Has anyone been able to remove it without any priblems? AVG just says that it was pre-installed by the manufacturer and can't remove it.

I just got this message from McAfee security stating it's version tmous-1.1 and it's a medium threat. Tried to remove and got the uninstall un-successful message each time. I have the LG-G4. It is a system application and with those all you can do yourself unless you root your phone is force stop and disable.

Demo Stub...

Got same message with AVG. Think it is false positive. Using my Galaxy s5 phone for 4 months with AVG and 360 installed. AVG was the only one to alert me. Disabled Demo just in case and will see what happens.

I'm curious if the demo stub is only being detected on Tmobile phones or if other carriers are experiencing the same issues. Tmobile is blaming Samsung, Samsung is blaming Tmobile.

Hello I got this Demo Stub Virus or app whatever it is I disabled it and forced stop and my McAfee still says Threat still found (Demo Stub)
I'm really serious about this I think this is why it's giving me virus everytime I go to the Google chrome something shows up and say you are infected or your ZTE Z970 has been viruses go to this app yeah pretty sure I went to all security apps this is the only thing that's messing with my phone please help please!!! ...also don't ask that I have to reboot and reset everything because it won't going to work thank you

This is definitely not a 360 problem. I have a Sony Xperia and have had it for 3 years with no problems. I have AVG and lookout and never had a problem with a scan. My phone has been acting slow and weird so I decided after 3 years it just might be time for a factory reset. After reset and reinstalling AVG and lookout mine found this app. Since I can't seem to find a solution I am considering rooting my device to delete it.

I'm curious if the demo stub is only being detected on Tmobile phones or if other carriers are experiencing the same issues. Tmobile is blaming Samsung, Samsung is blaming Tmobile.

Can't be Samsung I have a Sony

It may be a false positive.
