Manually Apply 2.0.1 Update WORKING

Help! In all the post for this update people keep referring to holding the 'x' button, where the hell is that? Sorry if im an idiot lol

I can see extensions on my setup. In fact removing the extension prompts Windows to warn me about the file extension change consequences.

I placed the file at the root, powered off the device, turned on holding the X key. Pressed Volume+ + Camera once the /!\ screen appeared. select the second option to update the phone and then starts and the error message appears in nice yellow font.

I'm assuming that you have tried both update.zip and just update. If that's true I have no idea on how to help you, I would try asking these questions in the forum you get the download from.

I have a question...I just did this and now I can't go to galery...it says this application is not installed on your phone...any ideas? And is there a way to revert to the old software and then I could just wait for the ota?

My shortcut would not work on my home screen for the Gallery. I deleted it and put it on again and it works fine now. The update must have replaced/updated the gallery portion of the system.

well... I swapped the file name from update to update.zip that seemed to work for a bit until I get this:

-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("MTD:boot:2512896:86ce122fdfab1ca7aea268575ec692699c8556ab:2502656:e79414e177b152c9c3eca09f1be0c6b1b24e889")
E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installattion aborted

It all lasts less than 20 seconds.:(

Just tried to open my gallery from a folder on my home screen and got a force close from GDE, so then I tried to open from pulling up the tab and I was able to open from there. So I just deleted that short cut from the home screen and added it back and everything is fine.

I would try deleting from you pc and try downloading again maybe something was wrong with your first download.

Everyone keeps saying rename to update without the .zip. All wrong. The actual file name has to be update.zip or it wont work. Some people have different file display settings which will show all file extensions. If you have it set that way changing it to update removes the .zip completely

Yes, I saw that. But that's more trouble than I wanna go through. I'll just wait for it to come.:)

the suggestion is for people who have their extensions hidden, that's why i recommend it for people who don't see .zip in their file name.

@ chocobilly you can just try to download it from the same place again if you want, sometimes a download gets corrupted while downloading. so trying again should fix those issues.

how do i get all the downloads off sd card? ive tried this like seven times.....keep getting that message. no such file or whatever. helpppppppp.
