Hello everyone, so I am trying to manually apply my own host file to block ads on my phone, though for some reason, changing the file had no effect, despite having the new file placed in /etc/hosts. I also tried /system/etc/hosts with no avail. Is there something else I am missing?
Also, I copied my host file off of my computer. I was assuming that Android uses the same type of file, correct me if I am wrong. I have rebooted, no effect.
the first few lines go:
127.0.0.1 localhost
# ---------------- Updated: January-13-2011 ---------------#
127.0.0.1 fr.a2dfp.net
127.0.0.1 m.fr.a2dfp.net
....
Am I doing something wrong? I am aware that there is a program that can do this, but I want to understand why it isn't working this way
