Manually update your phone to DI07

Well, while the update went ok for me, my GPS (which was fine before the update) is now completely non-functional. :-P

power off phone. Hold down volume down+ camera button+ power button until u see recovery screen. If u see sprint boot up screen, then u didn't do it right.

This is right on. Hold all 3 until recovery screen appears. Navigate selections with volume up/down, Home key for enter/select.

Worked great.

Worked for me on my ROOTED Epic 4G, OTA though. Also it appears that i still have root because i can still run a few apps that req root.

ok i figured it out everyone that is having problems, dont unzip the file just put the file directly on the sd card still in zip format, then turn off the phone, then hold down the bottom volume key, the camera key, and the power key, until you get to boot screen, then scroll down to update by pressing buttom volume key, then hit home key and it starts the update, and feel free to thank me plz lol

I am also getting the failure.
Exact Message:

"E:signature verification failed Installation aborted."

I'm assuming this is an MD5 (or similar) Hash check that is failing...

Got it first try, though like another poster said it didn't auto update. Thanks for the info, OP!

Is there a list some where of all the changes?

Also, not really impressed with the media hub pricing. 12.99 for Stardust? Good movie, but I can probably get it that price on sale and just rip it.

I redownloaded the file, much larger than the first download... all worked well.

Thanks.

After noticing your post; I checked file sizes. It looks like my failing file is also smaller than the second I downloaded. I am getting ready to try again now.

I have the update file and have been trying to install... It begins the process fine but basically fails and aborts... I am getting an error message about Sprint Zone... reading about this update I know that you need to have all the Sprint Apps... I am rooted and had removed Nascar, Sprint Nav and Sprint Zone... I found all of these APK files and restored them to the phone, but I am still getting this same error... can anyone suggest what other steps I might need to take? The reps at Sprint of course do not even know there is an update being pushed and told me it couldn't be across their network because it's not on the approved list of firmware updates...

Failed...Do I neeed to unzip the file on my computer before putting it on my SD card or not?

To those having issues getting into boot screen:

Make sure you hold down all three buttons!

Hold volume down and camera first, then hit the power (while still holding down other two).

No, you do not need to unzip the file. Put it on your main SD card, not in any folders... then hold volume down, camera and Power... do not let up on any of them until you see the screen asking you to launch the update... hit volume down once on that screen and then your home screen button to select... it should begin the process... I've done it several times... I am having another issue where it is failing upon cert check on Sprint Zone, which I've reinstalled after initially removing when I got the phone... may have to flash back to stock unless anyone has a better idea? Please?

Also, do not download the update from the mobile version of the site - this a very small file (looks like a link, to be honest).

Use the classic version of the download site to get the full ~24MB file.

If it fails its either
1. Wrong file size, should be around 27mb
2. Not in the right directory on the sd card. It cannot be in any other folder on the sd card
3. Not running stock kernel or sprint apps are missing. The ota will fail if this is the case.
4. You can't get into recovery. Unplug from power source, turn off and try again. Didn't work for me when connected to the car charger.
5. You unzipped it. Redownload it.

Glad to see it worked for some... I didn't even do it yet. ;-)

I have the full file and can get it to begin install... it is aborting... it says assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/SprintZone.apk", and then two long strings of numbers and letters in quotes... when this first happened, SprintZone was not on the phone, but I realized what the issue was and restored SprintZone, Nascar and Sprint Nav... I got the stock apps off the web... what else can I do to push this through somehow? Is a full flash to stock the only option?

Wassup guys... follow all the steps that were stated by the creator and rename the file to update.zip. this will definately work. When I downloaded the file it was named update-1.zip and this didn't work for me But after the name change it did.
