Maps battery drain.

Hey all,

I have location services off and maps isn't running, however, my battery usage shows maps and draining the most battery. Why is this?

Could it be another app that uses the maps? Is your GPS off? The phone doesn't need it except for turn by turn directions - under most circumstances, WiFi and LTE are adequate to locate you.

Try clearing the cache and restarting the phone - it could just be a random runaway process.

How do I clear the cache

Settings-storage-cache. This will clear it across all apps.

You can also go to settings-apps-choose your app and clear just that one, but it doesn't do any harm to clear them all.
