Mate 20 battery life issue

Hi guys so I just bought a Huawei Mate 20 yesterday. I charged it up but it became hot. I also realised that the battery drains pretty quickly. It drained 8% overnight. Is this a worrying sign?

Some warmth perhaps when charging phones, but not what you'd call heat. That sounds bad to me.

What did your battery usage stats show as having used the charge?

Welcome to Android Central! Is this a brand new phone, or used/refurbished? Were you using the original charging cable and plug, or a 3rd party one?

The 8% drain can be due to a number of things. If you have an app that's remaining fairly active in the background (e.g., frequently refreshing data), that can lead to some drain.

I've actually tested this scenario with my Mate 20, charged it fully, left it off the charger overnight and woke up and it was still at 100%. With WiFi, Bluetooth enabled, everything syncing.

Right now I leave my Mate 9 back up phone on I can literally leave it on for several weeks and it'll go from 100% to like 60%, other phones will last a week at most.

Assume 8% overnight as its 8 hours? 1% per hour seems legit. My Mate 20 Pro drains around 3% overnight.

Have had mine a week. Charged last night as I was down to 50% over 2 days. Removed from charger prior to bed and this a.m. the battery was 99%.
My previous phone Honor 8 with same apps would lose about 20% overnight when not charging.
