MAY Security patch (Update: OTA is live!)

If on demand is "broken," I'm guessing T-Mobile buh-roke it. They do love knuckle draggin' on updates. I am kinda curious, though, why the "Fi carriers" are getting an OPM4 build this month after getting an OPM2 last month. Seems an odd sort of flip-flop to make even if it is just a harmless naming convention.

If anyone who hasn't received the update want to try this...go to Settings >> Apps & notifications >> See all apps >> Google Play Services >> Storage >> Clear cache.

Try checking for updates after this. I got mine instantly. Before doing this, I tried multiple times but didn't get the update.

Usually not a good idea to clear cache on Google Play Services. Usually will cause more harm then good.

Finished sideloading, no patience to wait for OTA. The check for update worked one month until back to it's usual self

At least we have the option sideload easily.

I thought clearing cache was alright since it'll build back up anyways, clearing data would've been an issue.

Yeah I do the OTA since it comes out when I am at work and pops. If it didn't I would just side load it once home.

I think it's Google Services Framework that causes issues when cleared. I did that once and had to end up factory resetting.

Fair enough, only speaking of my own experience. Check Update button worked "as intended" past two months, now it doesn't.

You could go to Apple and maybe get an update that makes your microphone not work :P.

I kid I kid.. just showing that anyone can have bugs.

Hahaha yeah, no. I'm not really that upset. It does amuse me though, how every month when this update circus comes around it always turns into a bit of a mess.

Did anyone with Verizon phone get the update? I am using it on tmo and still have nothing.

I did. I'm using a Pixel 2XL purchased from Verizon and got the update yesterday using the "Check for update" button at around 2 or 3 pm central time.

Edit to add - I just realized you may have been asking about using a Verizon-purchased phone on T-Mobile. I bought mine from Verizon and I'm still using it on Verizon.

I'm miffed that after working previously the update button doesn't work now.
Anyone have a link to the steps to do a sideload?

I am using the Verizon Pixel 2 XL on Verizon -- got it yesterday when the OTA went live.

A buddy of mine is on AT&T w/ a Verizon Pixel 2 XL and got it as well.
