Measure Your Battery Life and Brag About It!

Total Battery Life = 34.306
Kernel = 2.6.32.9 lge@android-build #4
Rom = Stock...VM670ZV4 FRG83
Min/Max CPU = N/A
Governor = N/A
Data = Wifi
Data Sleep Policy = Wifi sleep policy is never. I don't know how to check 3G.
Voip = N/A
Usage = Almost all music over Bluetooth using Winamp. Read 4-5 emails.

I also want to state to be clear that I don't turn anything off with regards to the Power Control widget. I use a task manager to manually kill Twidroid and Where if either is running. I also use ConnectionChecker:

...
probably should have went longer, since 32 is what i got for total with 26% left but started filling this in after it was charging. Battery stats were cleared prior.

Your actual estimated Total Battery Life is 43.58 hr. That is using the formula from the first post.

i'm too tired right now to do any of the calculations but, my phone has been on for 48 hours, and it's at 67 percent. That's longer that I've ever had it.

Have you been asleep for two days? That is like 145hr battery life.

Actually, I slept for 11 hours both days, so that's 22 hours that my phone has been idle. As for the other hours, i've been using it alot, constantly texting and using mobile web to try to see how fast it would drain. It's draining ever so slowly. Oh, it was over wifi btw. I noticed when I ran those tweaks along with some of my own that I added, that my battery lasted MUCH longer.

Question, talking about battery stats .. to 'clear' the stats, is it just the file /data/system/batterystats.bin that needs to be deleted? Just asking since I'm doing the moving of /data and since /data/system is a symlink on my data partition I doubt the recovery would get it.

You're probably right. You can "wipe" the stats manually though. While booted and the symlinks have been made, delete /data/system/batterystats.bin through adb.

QuickSSHd as root is my preferred method these days. I get to type commands on a real keyboard and don't need wires. :D

I'll just log in an rm it directly, thanks :)

Sudden change in battery life

I was getting between 26 to 34 hours, (both stock and after flashing new ROM) always using juicedefender. After changing the settings to aggressive, now I have 57.5 hours since unplugging and still have 27% left. Use hasn't changed much and now instead of turning off at night, I'm using airplane mode. I also changed underclocking from 320 to 480.

Total Battery Life = 78 hours
Kernel = 2.6.32.9-Picasticks 07
Rom = Harmonia 1.1
Min/Max CPU = 480/806
Governor = interactive
Data = 3G/ wifi
Data Sleep Policy = data off when screen off
Voip = none
Usage = light, per day: about 10 min calls, around 10 texts, about 20 min web browsing , few pictures taken.

Hope it continues that way..

A new update:

Total Battery Life = 77.701389 hrs
Kernel = picasticks-07a
Rom = MobiusROM R1.1 "Green Hill"
Min/Max CPU = 600/806 normal, 600/825 charging, 480/600 screen off/low battery/overheating

Total Battery Life = 22.49 hours
Kernel = picasticks-07a

Min/Max CPU = Default Reborn Rom setting.
Governor = interactive
Data = 3G
Data Sleep Policy = Never
Voip = None
Usage = Heavy usage! Surfed much through the web, had 600+ texts, 5 phone calls, took few pictures, and watched youtube vids for 30 mins. Music for 20 mins. This roms battery rocks. This is with 3g on most of the time and wifi on for about an hour. Backlight was all the way down though, but still battery life is amazing.

3g is the culprit

One thing seems obvious from most people's posts, if you limit or turn off 3g (using wifi instead included), your battery life improves dramatically. Everyone who gets high battery life numbers seems to be strongly limiting their 3g, except for mmarz that is :) Those who keep their 3g on all the time seem to get more reasonable numbers.

That's because I use firewalls to block most apps when the phone is idle. This has the same effect as turning off 3G, but I am still able to use groove IP for incoming calls. When the phone turns back on, all the apps regain internet access. Because idle 3G consumes less power than idle wifi, I actually gain battery life. If I were to use 3G constantly, it would consume 3x as much battery as wifi. So it is a delicate game.

Another interesting fact, airplane mode consumes the same amount of power as turning off just data. That is because while in airplane mode, your phone still searches for and contacts nearby cell towers. That means that your provider can still track you even when on airplane mode. Remember this for your next kidnapping gig. Always pull the battery :)
