Can I use an external SD Card reader on my moto g? It is the prepaid Verizon edition?

I would like to transfer files to a tablet.

My friend is getting out of the big house in a couple of weeks. He has a u-tab7 from union supply, which is a locked down tablet. He said once he gets out he can't put more stuff on it.

I bet him I could do it using my phone.

Then he tells me that the tablet is locked down and he can only access it through their menu and that only allows songs etc from that company.

I am on a quest to hack that tablet. Any thoughts?

Welcome to Android Central! Any external SD card reader that connects via USB should work. The Utab is often a prison-issued device, though, which means it's tightly locked down. So you might not be able to use any external card readers at all.

Re: Can i jail break a score 7c tablet from home?

Those tablets are prison issued and locked down for a reason. They run a custom Android OS and are bootloader locked. Rooting is not possible.

As with every technology we develop, security is paramount. That’s why both SCORE Secure Devices run on a customized Android 8.1 operating system locked down with layers of security features that include:

• Firmware that cannot be replaced by anyone—even the Secure Device manufacturer.
• A purpose-built Master Control app that enforces facility security rules.
• App source code which is vetted by Keefe personnel and changed as needed.
• Completely disabled peripherals (camera, microphone, etc.).
• USB communication modified to proprietary protocol.
• User ID and password authentication requirement to operate.
• A mortality timer which ensures devices are synced at regular intervals.

The Secure Devices are never unlocked and can only communicate with Keefe’s kiosks using a proprietary, encrypted communication protocol.

You also benefit from a system that was first deployed in 2004 and has been exhaustively battle-tested for 15 years at hundreds of county, state and federal facilities.

Re: Can i jail break a score 7c tablet from home?

We seem to be getting more of these types of questions lately about these prison-issued devices. Does that mean anything?
