Can I use an external SD Card reader on my moto g? It is the prepaid Verizon edition?

I would like to transfer files to a tablet.

My friend is getting out of the big house in a couple of weeks. He has a u-tab7 from union supply, which is a locked down tablet. He said once he gets out he can't put more stuff on it.

I bet him I could do it using my phone.

Then he tells me that the tablet is locked down and he can only access it through their menu and that only allows songs etc from that company.

I am on a quest to hack that tablet. Any thoughts?

Or are you having some other issue? Hiteker tablets are typically prison-issued tablets, and are tightly locked down. So if you want to try accessing parts of the storage that were intended to be locked down, we probably can't help. You could try the forums at XDA-Developers.com.

Welcome to Android Central! From what I can tell, Walkenhorst makes devices for prison inmates: https://walkenhorsts.com/landing. If you have one of these devices outside of a prison setting, then it's unlikely that you can fully unlock it. You're better off finding some other Android tablet to use.

"deinstitutionalize"? This was a device locked by some entity for use only by that entity? Was this a device provided through an employer or for use in a prison? We generally don't assist with those kinds of things as the legality of doing so is questionable.

Welcome to Android Central! I'm assuming this is a device that was issued by a prison to inmates. They're locked down pretty tightly -- it's unlikely you can get rid of that short of installing a custom ROM. Check the forums at XDA-Developers.com

Welcome to Android Central! Hiteker tablets are primarily prison-issued, and therefore pretty tightly locked down. I doubt there's an "unlock" code.

The "info" is that you have to learn how to defeat the encryption. That's done by playing with the 200MB of code that @S Diavante offered. (Hacking isn't done by instruction, it's done by experimentation.) But, since he hasn't posted since that one post in 2016, I doubt that he's still around. (You could try sending him a private message.)

So, I am not sure if anyone is still interested in this but we have managed to get it to play movies... BUT, there is a snag... you have to get an sd reader from the old hiteker tablets... the ones from walkenhorsts... so, you remove the sd reader from your hiteker tablet and you solder it in the u-tab 7... once you have this set up, you have to create a new file... go to documents and click new file at the top right corner... the file name can be whatever you want so long as the extension is. Jpeg... once you do this, turn the tablet off, insert the sd card into the reader, turn it on, make sure that on the bottom right it says sd mounted, go to documents, click on your file, in the top left, click album, and all the videos in your sd card should show up... click on the movie you want and enjoy... but I do have a question, if you are trying to figure this out, obviously you are in prison and you have a phone; why not just watch the movie on the phone..? Welcome to Android Central! You're just trying to unlock the lockscreen? Or are you trying to unlock some other part of the system? Hiteker tablets are generally made for prison inmates, so they tend to be very locked down. We see questions about them with some regularity here, and I've never seen a good suggestion about how to make them less restrictive.
