Is this a work or School device?
What about safe mode to see if any third party apps are causing this?

Sounds like it's one of those phones bought on a payment plan, and they added that security software that locks the phone if you don't stay current on payments.

We have that big thread about that as people keep finding it on their phones. Forum moderators have simply been adding new members who come here asking about that security software to that thread.

It probably prevents resetting as that could be a way to get rid of it.

You may have to contact your carrier about it. But we don't have a way around it.

You might soon be taking a trip to a magical and wondrous place called the Mega-Thread... not to be confused with the Meta-Verse ;)

Yep. The thread that will explain what you got, but with no way to get around it because it's how you purchased your phone.

I would actually rather be in this Megathread than in the Metaverse, to be frank.:p

Can you all just stop asking about how to get by a security measure? We're not in the business of blackhat hacking.

There are two main scenarios where this may happen:

1. You got a second-hand phone that was originally obtained through some kind of rental or loan agreement. The security plugin is preinstalled on the phone to ensure prompt payments for the phone. If the seller didn't disclose this to you, then they were either unaware of this, or they were being dishonest (and possibly breaking the law). Either way, you need to take this up with them.

2. You actually got this phone yourself through a rental or loan agreement, and are trying to weasel out of the payment agreement by removing the security plugin (which is essentially theft). Don't.
