Melted FroYo

After months of contemplation, the temptation to root my Droid to get 2.2 got the best of me and I was able to do the process without a hitch. I went a step further and got 2.2 on my phone, and everything went well at first.

Then, things got weird. Out of the blue, I had no data. Like a fool, I dialed #228 option 2 and updated my roaming capabilities, thinking this might help, and it hasn't. The data is now wonky, when beforehand, I was getting a strong signal no matter where I was.

BASEBAND: C_01.3E.03P
KERNEL: 2.6.32.9-g103d848
android-build@apa26 #1
BUILD: voles-userdebug 2.2 FRF57 38829 test-keys

I'm considering unrooting and going back to 2.1, but I can't get to recovery; when I boot up and try Power+X, I get a bootloop of the "M", and when I don't try recovery, I end up just going back to where I started, no bootloop at all.

I'm asking politely that we save the "Noob" comments and such, I'm simply asking for help.
Thanks in advance,
~KG

Flash the older CW Recovery... somethingsomething .4

That will let you into Recovery.

O.o

I thought you said you couldn't get into recovery. My guess is you're running the latest CW Recovery (.8 maybe), if you are, chances are whatever you d/l to flash OTA won't boot you into recovery to install either. So first you'll need to "downgrade" your recovery image to the .4 one then you can flash whatever ROM you want.

RSDLite with the 2.0.1 SBF --> 2.1 OTA should work out just fine if you want to go back to stock.

Have you tried any of the 2.1 ROMs (BuglessBeast, UltimateDroid, etc.)? Or even BuglessBeast .1 (it's a 2.2 ROM)? They're all fairly stable and I've never had problems with them, myself.

Initially, I wanted FroYo, that's why I rooted in the first place. I tried BB, but if I want to change my appearance, I have BW, LauncherPro, and etc. :)

True, true. Give the official source time to drop and all hell will break loose with froyo ROMs!

OK, after trying to flash w/ RSD, I ran into an issue, so I'm leaving it on there. 3G is back up, and has been (albeit spotty) for almost 2 hours.

Lol, I only did the search because I wasn't sure if I'd get thwacked for linking to another forum or not... :D

You need the latest baseband

BASEBAND: C_01.3E.03P

You need the latest baseband it should say "C_01.43.01P"

SEE: "Baseband-update 2" at "http://forum.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-roms-hacks/16752-complete-walkthrough-froyo-2-2-setup.html"

or try this link "http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WMU33OCO"

The easiest way is to just go into rom manager (free or premium), select download rom, go to Stock Images and you should see the .41 and .43 basebands. You need to install .41 first and then .43 after.

That really is the problem. When you install .43 first it gives you spotty 3G. need to install .41 then install .43 over it.
