Membership cards in Samsung Pay won't scan

Has anyone had any issues with membership cards scanning? My old phone (Note 9) had a proximity sensor that wasn't under the glass and Samsung Pay used it to "beam" the barcode to the scanner, so it always worked. Seems like the S22 models have the sensor under the glass so it either isn't "beaming" the barcode, or it doesn't work through the glass.

Zoom into the picture slightly to make the bar code a little bigger and then try. Also have brightness to the max.

I use Google Pay and the couple of cards I have used scan fine. I just pull up the bar code and hold the phone out to the checkup person and they scan it. I like Google Pay vs Samsung Pay for a couple reasons but one thing I like more about Samsung Pay is the way it handles membership cards. Maybe I need to try investigating further, but in GPay it takes several steps/screens before you can pull up your bar code. In Samsung it was much simpler.

I used Samsung Pay on my S9+ for years, and it was great. I just upgraded to the S22 Ultra and so far the membership code for a grocery store works fine, but the reader at my gym just doesn't 'see' it.

So the lesson I have learned is buy more food, exercise less.

Agree - I am so disappointed with how they made Google Pay. It's clunky and takes so many steps to get to membership cards and my passes, tickets, etc. The only Google Pay handled it so much better.

I wish I could save my ticketmaster tickets to Samsung Pay.

Same experience here. I can use it at grocery stores but it doesn't work at my gym. You can see how it uses the IR proximity sensor on the older phones if you pull up one of your membership cards and view it through the camera on your new phone. Seems like Samsung should completely dim the screen for membership cards on newer phones so the proximity sensor can shine through the screen. That's assuming it's still using IR.

Yeah I like Samsung Pay for membership cards because you can swipe up from the lock screen to open them. There are too many steps with GPay. I wish they would let you make a homescreen shortcut to individual cards.

I have used Samsung Pay for years. Just got my S22 Ultra and some cards work and some don't. App is very buggy. I loaded Google Pay, and all cards loaded fine. And the watch app is perfect. I can't get my Watch 4 to even work with the Samsung Pay app. Looks like Gpay for the time being.

The Gpay app seems to brighten the screen more than Samsung Pay does, so if it is solely working by reading the barcode off the screen, Gpay would probably work better anyway.
