See, this is how I originally had my Pixel 3 set up when I received it. Disabling adaptive battery was the first thing I did thinking the phone would run faster. But I still had the issue with navigation. Then I turned it on and de-optimized certain apps and I had the issue with Youtube. Then I turned it back off and youtube issue stopped, but I didn't bother trying to replicate the original navigation issue.
I think that turning on/off adaptive battery is really just resetting your app usage history, and eventually you'd run into one issue or another after a couple days.
Either way, this all kind of proves to me that the Pixel 3 is under-powered as far as RAM. Sure, they'll fix the software problem with background apps, but honestly, I've noticed that this phone is still slow when multitasking even when it doesn't close the background apps. Using it side by side with my S8...the pixel 3 feels slower when under load.
So I keep asking myself why would I pay $800 for this phone to upgrade from my S8 when the S10 is 4 months away. I'd get the Oneplus 6t if it weren't so large.
It's a safe bet that the S10 will have 6gb of RAM, Android Pie, no notch, and an in-screen fingerprint reader. Also, as seen with the 6t, manufacturers are starting to realize that photo processing plays a large part in camera quality so it's only a matter of time before Samsung starts to catch up.
This is the third freakin year that I passed on upgrading my galaxy to wait on the Pixel. Instead of buying the S9 late again this year, I'm just going to wait for the S10, and upgrading my galaxy every year will be the default, rather than waiting for the Pixel.
Also, it took a 45 minute call with google to get them to allow me to return my Pixel 3 over the RAM management issue without the $35 restocking fee. I am a razor's edge away from just getting the iPhone X. I'm pretty fed up with android as a whole.
This is pretty embarrassing for the flagship android device and I'm getting pretty close to just being done with it all.
