Hi

I am SO frustrated with this issue that's been going on for quite a while now. I am constantly getting a "storage space" data warning in the notifications bar. Then I click the notification and it takes me to my "all apps" area in settings and lists them by size

Well looking at the bottom of that screen it says 223mb used and 525mb free

Um....how is that "low storage"?

Regardless if I uninstall an app or clear data on things randomly it fixes things (and will start syncing everything again which it stops doing if you have that low data warning in your notification bar)

Well I'm just really tired of shaving off a single mb here and there always clearing the data on the facebook app (which only saves 2-3 mb for me) and then in 3 days time that 2-3 mb of data is back

I mean it says I have more available storage than used, yet it still keeps doing this?

Is this just a defect w/ android in general or the Incredible? I heard there was a "mail data leak" or something w/ the HTC mail app but my app only shows it taking up about 6mb. No program is excessive (though sometimes "contacts storage" gets to be around 10-11mb). I also have every app that can be moved to SD moved to SD

Is there a permanent fix? FYI I'm not rooted just running stock OTA Gingerbread

Not sure why HTC didn't fix this as it's a horrendous problem. Long story short is that is has to do with the way DATA is stored from apps on the DINC - in a data/data folder, whcih only holds a measly 150mb of space and fills up quickly, which you cannot access without Root.

If you don't want to root, try moving as many apps as possible to the sd card ,which will help a bit.

Xda developers has a mod called ext4all (for rooted phones only) that eliminates this data/data partition completely and opens it up to the regular/larger /data area. It definitely helps, but doesn't completely eliminate low on space errors if you still download too many apps, or apps like Touchdown, which uses a ton of app and data space.

I'd highly recommended rooting as you can help to get rid of this problem, while at the same time open up more potential for the phone. I personally love Nils Gingersense ROM's and running the same version of Sense as the new Rezound!

Thanks for the info. I have debated rooting but have trouble finding root instructions for the current 2.3.4 build on my phone

I've successfully rooted my Kindle Fire and that worked out, and that was the first thing I've ever tried rooting.

I think the D Inc is pretty much End-of-life as far as VZW supported updates go (meaning it most likely won't get Ice Cream Sandwhich) so I'd be OK w/ rooting now

Can you share a link that'll work with the current 2.3.4 build just to have root access to fix this problem. I still have "SuperOneClick" installed on my computer from doing the Kindle. Do I just plug in the Incredible via USB and click "root"? Doubt it's that easy lol

Plus once you root how to you put in the XDA thing that fixes this stupid memory problem? Also wouldn't mind having the fancy Sense on the Rezound but not sure if that's too advanced.
