Menu button, all apps disappeared from front page. How can I get them back?

Menu button, all apps disappeared from front page.

My phone died, and when I restarted it, it did two updates. When I unlocked it, my menu button and front page apps were gone, it said "couldn't add widget on top," my keyboard settings were back to default, and the home button stopped working. I have a Moto G2, 5.0.2. Tried restarting phone twice, and clearing the phone's cache/rebooting, etc. Anyone know how to fix this?! Would prefer to not do a factory reset.

Hi, welcome to the forums! It sounds like a launcher problem. What kind of cache did you clear, user cache in settings - storage or a cache partition wipe on recovery? You should try both. Also, go to settings - apps, clear data for the Google app and reboot the phone.
