Message notification wont go away

when i go into the stock messages app on the main screen i see a notification i have 1 message but in the all messages section there is no new message. i tried deleting all messages, restarting the phone, pulling the battery but the notification wont go away! PLEASE HELP

It happens to mine too, you can either wait and it sometimes goes away when you get a new text or you can go to applications > manage applications > messaging > clear data/cache. It will happen again though. I just learned to deal with it, hopefully its fixed with the 1st update.

Yeah, I noticed this too. Tried clearing all the messages, reboot phone, etc to no avail. However once a new message came in I hit the back button to go to messages wait a second then it goes away. If you do it too fast it will stay with unread messages from what I have noticed.

This. I've just trained myself to give it an extra second or two before backing out of the app but it is kind of annoying.

It happens also when you have a message you have go automatically into a label without reading it, etc. depending how you configured email on your acct from the desktop.

I had the same exact thing happen to me, drove me nuts. I even deleted all my text messages and it still didn't go away even after I received a new text message and I opened it, it still showed 1. Then out of no where on it's own, poof....it disappeared.

I'm glad this is happening to other people too. If I had to do a factory reset, I just might kill myself.

Another problem I'm having with the stock messaging app: when I open the thread for a particular person, a draft that I had created a while ago pops up every time. Is there anyway to stop this?

same fix--clear the data cache of the app
menu>applications>manage applications>all>messages>clear cache AND/OR clear data

Note: clearing Data should NOT erase your text messages

i was having a lot of issues with the stock messaging app. i liked the layout a lot but ended up disabling all notification from it and used handcent.

i've tried everything:
restarted phone, clearing app data, erased all my messages, unchecked "do not keep activities" and have the "limit background processes" on standard limit.

the "1" notification is still there, and the led indicator light still lights up...

what is going on here.
