Messages and Phone app won't search contacts since update to Android 10

Since upgrading to Android 10 I've been unable to search for most of my contacts in either the app for messages or phone. A handful of names will show up when searched for, but the majority don't. I can scroll up and down and manually select a contact to send a message to however when I use the search bar within the app itself it does not recognize any of my contacts. Is this a setting or workaround? This is extremely annoying when trying to setup new group texts.

This probably isn't the case, but go to Settings>Apps, select Phone or Messages, then Permissions, and make sure Contacts permission is turned on.

Yup. Same thing in safe mode.

Try clearing cache and Data the force stop the contact app , dialer app also .

That's a good idea. Also, do you have any carrier apps installed, like My Verizon or Name ID?
