Thats One UI look and been like that since introduction even Samsung message app
Using regular google message it wont show that , google/ Samsung collaboration google message have this Samsung does and have been for awhileWell my S21 didn't do it like that. Neither did my S10. They both opened the Messages app in full list view. Oh well. Minor inconvenience.
Ugh, So many small differences from my S21 to S22. Now when I open Google Messages, it opens with the word Messages taking up half the screen. My S21 would open with the latest message at the very top of the screen. Here's a screenshot of how it is now, and it's annoying!View attachment 342436
That's Samsung doing to make ease of one handed useI know I asked samsung why it's like that and they said its part of S22+. My Samsung A31 didn't do that and used identical apps. I don't like it. It's a waste of space.
Welcome to AC!I noticed the same thing. You need to replace the pre-installed "Messages" app (Samsung collab) with the Google Messages app in Google Play. Just search for Google Messages and you'll see it. Once you've installed it, you will need to make it your default app for SMS messaging.
Then, just be sure that you're using the Google Messages app, and no more oversized header. They are both called "Messages", but the Samsung Messages is the chat bubble with three dots, and the Google Messages is the chat bubble with no dots.
Nope , maybe if you get the APK versionIf I can download it from play store I would think others can.
Google " google message app for android" it will come up with a link to the app on the play store.
Takes me Google/ Samsung colabWhat happens when you click on open? Maybe the google app will open.
All I can tell you is when I set up my new phone I downloaded the app and have both. If I open Samsung messages it tells me to use it I must make it default, same thing if I am using the Samsung message app and open google messages.
Maybe the latest update to 13 changed something.
There are 3 message appsAccording to that screen Google messages is your default app being used on your phone. Are you saying despite this screen your default app is Samsung messages?
On this screen if you select the second one down the balloon with three dots which is Samsung messages there is no change? It doesn't ask if you want to make default.
