Google messages is running extremely slow. If I'm replying from the notifications, it will spin for 10-30 seconds before sending. If replying from the app, the sent icons again take 10-30 seconds to change to sent. I used to get texts instantaneously (essentially) but now someone sitting next to me will message and it takes up to 30 seconds for it to make a notification sound....but, if I open the app the text isn't there for another 10-30 seconds. After sending, or when I know I'm receiving a text, I see in my notifications that messages is "working in the background". What gives? I've cleaned out a bug of texts. I've force closed. I've rebooted. Nothing. This started happening about a week ago. 1000032028.jpg

OK, I just turned RCS off and back on. We'll see. Also, wasn't sure if it was carrier or not. I'm on att so hoping if others on att see samething, someone will chime in.

Here's another example. I'm trying to reply from the notifications and it takes at least 30 seconds to go through. I've tried resetting RCS, as suggested. No difference. 1000032036.jpg

Nope, definitely Google messages.
Oh ok yeah that's Google's, strange one of the screenshots looked like Samsung, anyway try what spook mentioned otherwise clear the apps data then force stop it. Back your messages up just in case.

Which phone are you using? If it's a Samsung where you can still clear the system cache partition, I'd try that as well.

To provide further details, choose to reboot the device. Then press and hold the power button and the volume up button simultaneously. Release once you see that it enters recovery mode. Use the volume down button to select "wipe cache partition". Once that completes use the volume up or down button to select "reboot system".

I wasn't getting notifications for some reason so I missed some responses. I came back to update that the most recent update seemed to fix the issue. I dunno if that update also wipes the cache but messages are zippy again immediately after the update. 🤷🏼‍♂️
