messaging issue

I updated my galaxy s4 with the over the air update a few days ago. I cleared the cache and did factory reset...

Messages now wont send....I have to restart phone and hope they send. ... my battery life also sucks. How do I downgrade to a previous operating system or fix these issues

you cannot downgrade due to bootloader lock and also it will damage the EFS folder
may be the messaging settings have been change
go to message--> settings
