Method to transfer data from Galaxy S6 w/ broken screen?

Waiting for a replacement S6 which I replaced once before. Used Samsung Smart-Switch last time and it worked flawlessly for me. But if I remember correctly, I needed to make selections on both phones. The broken phone will power on but the screen is black except for an occasional flicker. Anyone know if smart-switch will work for me or can suggest an alternative method. I do have a laptop and USB cable available...and fairly competent knowledge of Android & Windows.
