Hey everyone! Sorry if this has been covered already, just let me know.

My sister is using MetroPCS and she is currently using a Huawei phone and it is horrible. It takes forever just to open the phone app. She is looking to get a new phone especially after seeing my Gnex.

My question is:

- Is there a current list of non-MetroPCS android phones that are able to be used on that network with all features available (Voice, Data, SMS/MMS)?
- I would be doing the flashing or what ever is needed for her then I would just give her the phone.

I was looking at their current line up and it is pretty sad. Especially for the prices they want you to pay.

Any insight on this subject is encouraged. She is not in the market to leave MetroPCS but if there are any other solutions that can be offered to get her a better phone I am all ears.

I heard (here say) of people flashing HTC Evo to metro.

See if swappa.com have good cheap clean ESN Evos.

If the phone she's using is GSM, any GSM phone for the carrier she's using (MetroPCS is an MVNO, not a carrier) should work, as long as you change the APN(s). Choose by price and features (and what you've heard about the phone) from whatever phones have radios for that carrier.

Yea I think we decided that she just wait for one of their new phones. I'm not always there to help her if something happens to the phone so its best if she uses a phone they support. Thanks for your info though.

MetroPCS uses CDMA and LTE phones (although their LTE service is very limited and apparently slower than what Verizon and AT&T offer)

Try a nexus s 4g or an epic 4g. They both work for metro. Everything you listed

That would be nice. I did a quick Google search and I got mixed answers. People who said it could be done didn't say how. If it is possible I would have to weigh the odds if it is worth it. I would like to see a detailed walk through of how to make it work. If you or anyone else has anymore info please let me know. Thank you

i have an evo 4g on metropcs. the phone is as stable as it was on sprint. mms/data and everything working. metropcs corporate stores will flash the phone to the network for you (if you visit metropcs website, they tell you they'll do it for $20 but data/mms wont be working.) many "authorized dealers" will flash phone and provision it for mms/data at the same time (between $30-$65 in my experience) so you can walk out of the store with everything working. if you want to provision the phone yourself, you can. google "metropcs mms provisioning" and it will take you to bloodykilla's guide on xda.

still google it, because there are some great links to metropcs threads even if you don't want to provision for metropcs yourself:

Excellent thank your for the link. The phone isn't for me its for my sister and I think she is going to settle for one of their phones. I will let her know about this though maybe she will change her mind.

If she's not into tinkering with Android, then a stock mpcs phone is a safe bet.
