When the official Froyo build gets released by Sprint/HTC how long do you think it'll take to see ROM's based on it? The rumor on Engadget is that they will be improving the video quality in the camcorder. I'd like to have that.

I really don't want to return to stock (it's a PITA if I haven't said that already) just to get the official updates.

I thought it was just gonna be a Froyo/Sense build but apparently it's more than that.

I'm sure that root will be broken with the official update for at least a week. :/

well, it depends on the ROM cooker. some make lots of changes and some (like the RvU team) make a few speed changes. so it could be from a few days to a week.

now, if it's like the Hero then we will have a leak of the official update a little in advance and then things will be golden. *fingers crossed*

Probably within the first couple hours the dev will have something together for the people with root to flash.

Yes I am. Running the newest version of Fresh right now. Pretty smooth so far. I've tried a few others but I'm not sure which one I wanna stick with.

My understanding is that I would have to have a rooted version of stock to keep my root, right?

yeah, just wait for them to cook a ROM based off the Froyo update and then flash as normal. apparently that Froyou update is just around the corner. OMG!
