Android Central Question

Phone: Verizon 16GB S4 Mini with Tracfone mobile account

Old phone won't charge so I bought a used exact same model of Android on ebay. Even though it won't charge, I have several swapable batteries and an external charger so I can keep the old one powered when migrating.

Questions:

1) SIM card
Can I use the same SIM card or do I need to get a new one from Tracfone due to a different IMEI?

2) Best way to transfer EVERYTHING (apps, data, etc...)

3) Should I transfer apps/data first or set up with carrier first?

Welcome to Android Central! To swap service to the new phone, you might just be able to swap the SIM, but I'd also check with Tracfone to see if they have to do any provisioning on their end (which is always something to consider for CDMA phones).

Smart Switch or Kies is probably the best way to transfer data: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...%2Fowners%2Fapp%2Fsmart-switch&token=UJg-YQ1L. I'm not sure which one an old phone like the S4 mini would use, but it shouldn't be too hard to find out.

From a practical standpoint, it would make sense to make sure the phone works on your carrier before transferring everything over.
