Mobile data connection

[AC Question]

Hi. Any idea why my Nexus 4 happily connects to internet via WiFi, and happily handles voice calls and SMS messaging, but reports that it cannot connect to internet via mobile network? It suggest that mobile data is not turned on, but I have triple checked that it is.
Grateful for any insight!

Is the data icon white or orange? If it's the latter that means it is not connecting to Google Play Services. You might need to remove your Google account and re-add it in order to make it work.
