Hey guys since I got the phone On Thursday August 4 when Best Buy was giving it for free. The rep at best buy didn't talk to me about either insurance plan from Att nor Best Buy so I went onto the att website to attach it myself and now I am having the hardest time ever trying to get the insurance attached to that device. The rep on the phone is saying she doesn't have it listed and is not sure if Asurion will allow for it to be insured. Also since it's not listed she doesn't know what the deductible would be. I figured that it would be in line with other smartphones $150.

She went on to inform me that At&t is changing their mobile insurance plans in October and the deductible for the iPhone will be $199. So she wasn't sure if this device would fall under this same tier. Does anyone have the insurance through att and has anyone had similar problems? Would love to hear feedback from you guys!

These Nexus S phones for ATT are not strictly "ATT" phones. They are unbranded phones with ATT bands, and you can use them on ATT's network.

Since they are not sold or listed by ATT as one of their subsidized phones, I doubt that you can obtain ATT insurance for them.

If you buy the phone from Best Buy, then they come with the Samsung manufacturer's warranty(for defects only), and Best Buy sells an additional warranty package which covers most every other incident for a fairly reasonable price.

So, really, you won't miss having an ATT insurance if they don't offer one to you.

Thx. I put on mobile insurance from att just in case I lose the phone. I may not get another nexus S however at least I won't be sol and have to spend hundreds on a new phone.

Be careful with that. Not sure about AT&T, but I've read about people trying to file a claim with T-Mobile insurance for lost/damaged Nexus S phones, at which point T-Mobile did not cover them. They said the Nexus S should't have been insured in the first place or that it was a mistake, and they refunded the past insurance payments.

Don't bother putting insurance on... it's a waste of time.

Asurion knows which phone you are using or 'were' using (when you make the claim). Even if you put a phone's IMEI number on your account that is covered, they still know.

I know because I have many devices and started using another one and they would only send that phone I was using last and not the phone that was on the account.

I think you should be careful about the insurance when you were purchasing the new phone. Because only that time you can get a phone's company insurance. But if you were forget about it then don't worry because there also so many insurance companies are available which provide the mobile phone insurance for all types of mobiles...
