[MOD] Collin_ph Battery Tweak

Just wanted to report that I am having a great time with this script. Works perfect with default setting. Running cm7 port with data2ext. No issues, except that I will miss it if I ever have to get rid of it.

PS. I was experiencing serious lag with the cputuner app however it was a working solution prior to this. This is the best solutions available with no lag anymore. :)

The tweak is now working correctly with Reborn ROM v 2.2.4. Even after a reboot the tweak is running fine without needing to be reset.

after customizing my settings i received "bad number" at the end LOL. while my logic seems to make sense answer me if these will kill or save my battery... all i changed was the percentage to 30 and the interval to check power status to 6 hours on battery (i only charge my phone overnight) the charging interval check to 2 minutes (to charge faster??)

Ran a benchmark on defalt profile with a reading of 965 then ran another on my settings and recieved 1220 (exactly what i was looking to boost)

Does it appear to anyone else that the 806 preset is not really 806 using the diagnostic?

Also, it doesn't look like the script identifies battery temp according to the diagnostic?

How exactly do I go about setting a Screen Off profile? My battery life while I'm using the phone is greatly improved however, my deep-sleep time battery life is horrible. It used to be that with all radios except for basic voice off that I could turn off my screen and not lose any percentage of battery life after an hour or two. Now it appears that my phone never gets to deep-sleep mode.

Using the smartass governor or the interactive is one of the only ways to create said profiles assuming your running cm7. Then obviously your minimum frequency should be either 245 or 320.. if you are running froyo try set CPU or this tweak.

I think that I was a bit unclear about what I was trying to do. I'm already using this tweak with Drew's CM7.1.0 and since the first post notes that this tweak has no screen off profile I noticed that my phone was still overclocked even when it was just sitting there unplugged doing nothing with the screen off. However, I've found a solution to my issue. I just created a simple Tasker profile that underclocks my CPU to 245MHz when the screen is off. I may have an issue if I try to play music and run Market updates in the background with the screen off but I'll be testing that today.

the way i understand smartass gov it forces the cpu to the min freq on screen off...i know i have really choppy play back through things like pandora with smartass gov when the screen is off....switching to interactive clears it right up.

Or just keep your min Frequency higher. I have my min Set at 600mhz. It runs perfectly fine at that setting.

giving this a shot now. moved over to CM7 from reborn, mainly for netflix and GB. Reborn had almost double to the battery life I'm getting on CM7, so giving this a shot. Hope it fixes this issue...hate having to charge the phone after lunch just to make sure it doesn't die before I crash at night.

Do you ever wipe your battery stats on a full charge after you flash a new rom? I find it hard to drain my battery in a day on CM7 and I leave my CPU Min on 600mhz lol. Usually bed time it's at 40%

Look at post #5. About half way in. http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...p-general-roms-rooting-related-questions.html

I know you've seen it tlrsax. Just wanted to show the steps to what you were referring to. ;)

'Fraid I'm not getting anywhere near what you're getting.

I may be a little confused on wiping the battery stats. The way I learned to do it was to charge the phone with it powered OFF and then boot directly into recovery and clear the stats. With CM7, you don't seem to be able to do that. When I plug it in, it automatically powers on. I read in one of Drew's threads about using BatteryCalibration, which I did, but haven't noticed any difference at all.

I've actually NAND'd back from the battery tweak already. I wasn't seeing any real improvement. By the time I got home from work, my battery had dropped enough that the tweak had me running at 480 max. The last thing I wanted was for my phone to underclock itself that much when I'm home and have time to mess with it more.

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but on Reborn, I unplug my phone at 5:30 AM and I'm at 70% around 1 PM. With CM7, I'm closer to 50% with the exact same usage patterns, programs, CPU settings, etc. The only thing that's really that different is the live wallpaper on CM7, and that can't cause that much...I hope.

Gotta figure this out...don't think I can do without netflix now.

It doesn't have to be turned off. Just charge it to 100% and hold the power button and go reboot > recovery. Select wipe stats, let it run completely dead, then fully charge again.

When I did it, I plugged it in after it died and it said 17% left yet it just died, so I let it run dead AGAIN before I recharged it. Works great since...but it seems everyone varies on battery life =/

varies is certainly one way to put it... Just for the heck of it, I started over from scratch. In order:
1) wipe cache 2) wipe system 3) wipe Dalvik 4) format boot 5) format system 6) run debug.zip [did each of these steps 3x in a row...old IT trick] 7) flash latest stable CM7 8) flash included gapps 9) reboot 10) reinstalled titanium and apps2sd 11) booted into recovery and made new nandroid [for clean slate] 12) recovered apps from previous titanium backup [not system data, just apps] 13) booted into recovery and made a second nandroid [just for the heck of it]

charged to 100%, reset battery stats, let run down till auto-shutoff. charged back to 100% and we're back to present day. The phone has been off the charger and in my pocket [virtually no use whatsoever] and I'm down to 81% after 4 hours and 40 minutes.

I'm running CM7 overclock of 245 min, 748, max and using the smartass governor.

I know this isn't the proper thread to throw all this into, as I'm not using the battery tweak at the moment. If anyone can direct me to a thread for this, I'll gladly move over. I did read the post that was recommended a few spots back and, other than redownloading all of the apps fresh from the market, I've done everything. That may be my next option, but I'm trying to avoid it. Any/All help is appreciated guys. Thanks.

EDIT: after all of the steps above, the new kernel came out. flashed it over successfully, but no change at all in the results.

Alright, to address the issue we have to try to run the system at "bare minimums" to see if we can eliminate the issue. First, read my FAQ. Do the same process you have been trying to wipe, flash system-debug.zip and flash ROM then gapps. Now, try it without restoring the apps+data from TB. I know it's hard to swallow with certain apps, but for now try downloading the apps again straight from the market. Only use the ones that are a necessity. Also, don't flash apps2sd or battery tweak mod. See what results you get just running the ROM by itself. Then, we can add one thing at a time.
My guess is that it's the apps that you are restoring that are causing the issue. Try without everything. After a test run, flash the battery tweak mod first and see how that works for a day or two. Then go back to using apps2sd and so on and so forth. I would avoid restoring all the apps+data from TB at all.

EDIT: This is an appropriate thread IMO! :D

Okay so I was loving g the script until I magically lost the ability to use it? I have all the frequencys set the same in all 3 charging states (as I always have, and have never had problems) I cannot get my battery settings to work at all? Everytime I unplug my phone from the charger its being.forced back to 653max 245min. When I plug my phone in and my settings work and I'm brought to 787max 420min, as soon as I unplug from charging 30 seconds later (the set polling interval) its forced back to 653/245. So I changed the polling interval to 5000 and when I unpliged my phone it stayed at 787/420 so I figured that might have worked so I rebooted to check and it was brought back to 653/245. Where are those frequencys even coming from? I've tried removing the script and reflashing using an earlier post from ksmith that included a reflash of the rom aswell.. I just want my settings to work on battery but I can't seem to make them stick through a reboot just momentary only if I plug it in first which sucks.
