Moisture in Port - should I be concerned?

Got my s8 as a pre-order, so I've had it for about 4-5 months now. It has been in a case its entire life and never had harder drop than a couple on carpeting from a couple of feet. I only exposed to water once by taking it out to take some pics in a rainstorm in July.

Yesterday I went with my daughter to a swim club we belong to that was closing for the season. I decided to get a few pics of me and her in the water so grabbed my s8. I had it in the water for about 3-4 minutes, submerged a few times, and grabbed some pics. When we got out I noticed a little raindrop in the notification bar, and pulling down the notification shade showed me a warning that said moisture has been detected in the charging port.

Got home 15 minutes later and took the case off to let everything dry out and wiped down the phone. A couple of hours later I tried plugging it for the night and a warning popped up that moisture has been detected in the charging port and it wouldn't charge. I put it on a wireless charging stand I have and it charged just fine, so I left it there for the night.

Fast forward 8 hours later and I just took the phone to the gym, and no longer get the moisture warning and it charges when plugged in.

Here is my question. Is this warning and no charging status (when plugged in) normal after submerging the phone? If not, is this something I should inquire with Samsung for a possible warranty issue?

Yeah that's perfectly normal. It's a safety feature that stops you shorting and frying the phone when the USB port is still wet. It takes a while for the warning to go away sometimes even when you think the phone is completely dry. It can be quite annoying if you need to get some charge in your phone but better safe than sorry or you can use a wireless charger like you did. I've had a few phones that weren't water resistant and unwittingly put a wet USB cable in to charge the phone only to find my phone smouldering away and pretty much destroyed

Yes it just proves the engineering superiority of the great people at Samsung. They know we're clumsy at times and have designed a phone to shield us from ourselves. I'm glad you posted this and it puts my mind at ease if I ever drop it in the toilet (which is the only water source I'll ever go near).
